Connections and Activism
Its been a busy month and time flies and I try to keep up but it is not always easy...went to an anti hate march ( nothing like hanging out with white supremacists with guns across from you ) ... been to local march along with a few other activists in town ... had a couple of art showings ... couple of doctors appointments and went north to a meeting on Line 5 which runs under the Great Lakes at the straits... One of my peeps from up north asked if I could go and speak to an advisory board .... maybe bring some photos .... ( I can find a few out of the 80k I took of the spill) Got to meet some new people who are fighting for the water and way of life ... also known a fight for survival. REMOVE LINE 5
We stayed in the RV of a friend of a friend who has been showing up at the meetings covered in chocolate cake batter ...Jordan and Tommy and Julie are along on the trip ... Jordan is headed to India next month to teach woman and work on water wells ... Tommy is planning several events and did a local march and Julie is fighting for 1st Nations Rights and Not your Mascot ... I met her through a friend Linda who did the Remember the Kalamazoo Water Walk...
I love the connections that I have made through activism and the beautiful people who I have come to know... And as we come up on the 7 year anniversary of the spill . I realize that out of something horrific ... beautiful things can happen ... beautiful friendships and communities are being built. I am blessed ... and thankful for all of those who have taught me... laughed with me ... cried with me and kicked me in the lower posterior when needed .... MUCH LOVE - we are all in this together ..... LOVE NOT HATE
