Hawa Mahal or the “palace of the Winds” is another example of architecture and science coming together. In his case, creating a natural wind flow through the building for cooling during the relentless summer Rajasthani heat. Many of Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh’s queens were housed here in a building that had many small viewing windows for them to observe festivities in the streets below. With the blend of red and pink sandstone being the main ingredient for the building blocks from the ground up, this building stands as one of the most popular pink coloured buildings in the Pink City sector of Jaipur.
