Totally agree with the new tv format screwing things up. I feel like with services like Netflix, They're only interested in bringing in new subscribers so they'll start new interesting shows and then just drop them when they don't bring in enough subscribers. Personally, I'm now super reluctant to watch some of their new shows because I don't trust them to give it a satisfying ending, it's all about cliffhangers with no resolution. I feel TV is at its best when they're restrained in the number of seasons (Listen I love ncis bit it's been going on way too long 😂), but they know how long they have and can plan a good ending! (Sorry for the long rant haha)
Yesss exactly for dropping the shows and not trusting the networks because of that!!! I think there are actual studies about Netlfix about that and the reason why most of Netflix shows don’t last more than 3-4 seasons? I do think that shows shouldn’t be too long either (like yes 18 years is too much lol) but also I don’t like shows that are too short either because you don’t get to see the characters evolve as much as they could... like 3 seasons is so short! Especially now that most seasons are only 13 episodes or something. 5-6 seasons for me is perfect I think. Actually I think that’s what “bothers” me nowadays too: I love romance. I know TV shows aren’t all about shipping and stuff, but that’s part of what I enjoy the most from my binges. And well, nowadays most shows put their couples together in the first season by fear of getting cancelled and stuff while here I am, longing for a good slow burn and waiting for more than only 13 episodes to get a kiss :’) Something I can find in older shows.
No but seriously. I wish you would write a fic from Rhys' point of view at the Summer Court because I love your view of him at that moment and I KNOW it would be amazing
this is a short one. but also hey @ anon who asked about me posting something, does this count? i love me some pining emo rhys.
Rhys knew that he shouldn’t be here.
Well, he should.
But not like this.
Not lying on the bed, his long legs stretched out over the sheets that smelled like her.
Not while she was somewhere in this castle, smiling and making pretty eyes at another male.
Not while his mind supplied him with oddly satisfying images of snarling at Tarquin, who kept looking at her like.. like she wasn’t his.
No.
Rhys shouldn’t be here. He shouldn’t be thinking like that. Instead, he should be working. Or at the very least he should be outside, flying to clear his damn head because if he kept going like this, he would ruin their mission. Or everything.
But Rhys hadn’t thought it would be this hard. He hadn’t thought that after only days of having Feyre by his side, sleeping just down the hall from him, it would be so hard to see another male looking at her.. with interest.
He couldn’t blame Tarquin. He really couldn’t. Not when Rhys had a hard time not looking at Feyre himself. But– she was his mate, not Tarquin’s. Feyre was his and every instinct was screaming at him to make that clear, he–
Rhys let out a groan, hating himself for even thinking it. He had promised himself to keep it professional. That the mission mattered more than his feelings.
And he had managed to block her out last night, had managed to ignore the emotions that had been scratching at his mental walls while Feyre had smiled prettily at Tarquin. And he had even managed to ignore her when those blue-grey eyes had dimmed, turning cold and haunted. And she had disappeared.
He still didn’t know how he had managed it. Not following her.
Everything in him had wanted to. As if the bond between them was a physical construct between them, binding him to her. Rhys had wanted to rip himself away from Cresseida and all the other watchful eyes and seek her out.
Feyre’s mind had been a glimmering beacon of light as the boat rocked in the sea. More alluring and brighter than the distant shores and even the stars above them. He wasn’t sure if she knew it, but that whole night, her mind had been reaching for his, claws digging into his shield and trying to pull him to her.
It was a wonder that Rhys hadn’t lost his mind.
And it was a wonder that he wasn’t loosing it now. But there was still time.
Because while Feyre had been calling for him last night, he had forced himself to stay away and now that her mind was blocked off, sealed tightly behind a wall of adamant, here he was. Lying on her bed, inhaling her scent and trying not to think about how she would entice Tarquin into trusting her.
Another set of images played in his mind now. Her pale skin, dressed in colors of summer, a set of hands that wasn’t his running all over it. Feyre’s breath, soft and low and full of want. Tarquin’s honeyed voice telling her that he wanted her, Feyre leaning into his touch–
One of the stupid sea shells that decorated Feyre’s dresser cracked in two. Rhys realized that he was clutching the sheets, his chest tight and heart hammering against his ribs.
He needed to get a grip on himself.
He needed to calm down. Him being this unhinged wouldn’t do him any favors. Not with Feyre. Not with Tarquin. Not with this whole messed up situation.
So, Rhys breathed in slowly. Held his breath as he counted to ten and then exhaled even slower.
He did this for long minutes and he was almost calm by the time he could feel Feyre coming closer.
Rhys couldn’t get a read on her, her mind sealed just as tightly as it had been that morning. So, Rhys did what he does best. He put on a mask.
It was harder than it should have been to conjure up a smirk and at the last moment, he shifted his position, sliding his legs down. It didn’t matter how right it felt to be lying in her bed, he had no right to make himself at home in it. He didn’t want to see the look in her eyes upon seeing him lying there, as if he was staking a claim. As if he had any right to that space.
With his feet planted firmly on the floor, it felt less like that. The door handle shifted and Rhys took a final breath to calm himself, before crossing his arms behind his head and smirking at Feyre.
Hi! I hope you can help me understand ^^ what's all the drama with Bob Morley and the showrunner? I saw rumors and stuff but I'm not really sure I get the situation. Thanks!!
Oh goodness, okay. I’ll do my best to recap, but finding sources is gonna be impossible because it’s pretty much all rumors.
If anyone wants to jump in and fill in the gaps, please feel free!
Sometime last year, Bob Morley left a convention early. I don’t know why - I know he’s had some personal health issues (a knee injury, mental health struggles, etc,) and I think the con became overwhelming for him. Richard Harmon stepped in to fill the remainder of his slots.
Rumors started up that JRoth and Bob feuded over his early departure from the convention - that JRoth found it unprofessional and ripped Bob a new one. Bob lashed back. That’s allegedly where the bad blood starts. It has supposedly continued up ‘til now.
Before all of this happened, Bob Morley and Eliza Taylor got married. It was a big deal within the fandom, because many people made the connection that Bob and Eliza fell in love while portraying Bellamy and Clarke. For many, it was affirmation that there is a romantic connection between the two characters, that perhaps, it might even indicate that Bellamy and Clarke are endgame and will become canon.
Then, Bob tweeted this:
Many in the fandom suspected that this (very vague) tweet was in reference to the Bellamy/Clarke dynamic in The 100. It fits the timeline (the show had been in development for about six years at this point,) and JRoth has often poked at B/C shippers by saying they “misinterpret” the Bellarke dynamic as romantic.
From this point forward, Bob’s twitter becomes, almost exclusively, about his struggles with depression, and about connecting others in the same boat with resources. He mostly uses the platform to raise awareness about this, and other issues important to him, like the Australian bushfires from last December.
The next time we get anything like a subtweet about the show, it’s this:
Many fans saw this as Bob (1) asserting that he is, in fact, the lead of the show, despite potential pushback from JRoth and (2) he’s a unique lead on The CW, making him even more valuable. Fans begin to speculate that JRoth is no longer treating Bob as the lead, and has sidelined his storyline. (This is also around the time that the scripts for s7 were being written, hence people making the connection to BTS drama.)
The next big hint we get is in the promos. Bellamy is featured in the trailer even less than characters like Echo and Murphy, who were normally considered supporting characters, at least compared to him. Bellamy doesn’t even get a line in the trailer. Bellamy is missing from the poster. Bellamy isn’t featured in ANY of the countdown shots (maybe they’re reserving him for the Show Day picture, that remains to be seen.)
Edit: There was a huge cast and crew shot for the Show Day picture, and Bob was not in it.
Actors do get residuals from their likenesses being used in promo materials. So cutting Bob out of the promo material would be an effective and easy: “fuck you, you get less money” from JRoth.
Furthermore, both Bob and Eliza have been very, very quiet on social media about the end of the series. Given that this is the end of a seven-season show where they were both the leads, this is suspicious. Their silence indicates that they do not agree with the end of the show, they no longer feel an attachment to it, and they don’t care to do promotion for free. It implies that they’ve gone sour on the whole experience, and want to put it behind them. There are rumors that Eliza had a miscarriage (she might have said as much, Idk) sometime last year, and that Bob’s depression got a lot worse because of it. That alone could be enough to warrant some silence on social media, which is notoriously negative.
This is all heavy speculation. Maybe absolutely none of this is happening - maybe JRoth was super understanding to Bob when he left the con; maybe Bob’s tweets had nothing to do with Bellarke, or with his dissatisfaction behind-the-scenes; maybe the lack of Bellamy in the promo is a super intentional way to build buzz around the final season. After all, if he’d been in the promo, people would just see it and move on, like we usually do. Not including him has gotten a lot more people to talk about what might be going on with Bellamy. And maybe the only reason Bob and Eliza have been quiet about the show is because they’ve got some serious stuff going on in their personal lives, and can’t spare the energy to do the promo for free.
But... if you add it all up, and it starts to look quite a lot like Bob pissed off his showrunner, and JRoth severely cut his role down in the final season because of it.
I might be missing some things, but that’s the gist, as I remember it. It’s been going on for so long now, I almost forgot that there was a time when Bob and JRoth didn’t appear to hate each other, lmao. If anyone reading this has anything to add, feel free!
I hope this made things a lil clearer, sorry it’s so long!
2) What are your opinions about the blurbs that have been released so far? I think they tell us more about the other characters than they do Nesta and Cassian, so far. I hope that the Eris thing doesn’t mean more Nesta versus Mor hate, because I’m not here for it. And I hope that Eris doesn’t get too much attention because idgaf.
3) What are your expectations about how Nesta handles sex and drinking? I think that it won’t go full-blown addiction, but I hope that she recognizes those behaviors (and lots of her other behaviors, let’s be honest) as potentially self-harming and self-sabotaging. I’d assume that Sarah has done some research into self-destructive behavior. The way she talks about bottles of wine hanging around her house (in Insta lives and stuff) for months makes me think she doesn’t have much personal experience, but since she did research for Chaol in ToD, I hope she does the same thing here. Drinking is one of those things that people get pressured into a lot - I mean, how do you hang out with people without drinking?? I live in a town with dozens of microbreweries and cider-making places. Culture around drinking is such that you’re either doing it, or you’re weird for not. It’s hard to think of it otherwise, which makes recovery difficult. And yes that’s our culture, but I don’t see it being much different in acotar world, especially based on the previous books.
Personally, I’m going to have a hard time separating Nesta’s experience from my own but I also think it might literally rip my heart out.
This is a question I could talk about for days and so it might be the one thing I’m most curious about in acosf.
Hi thank you for asking!! Also I got your other ask, sorry I had to do something just after I saw this and I’m very slow at answering these things that’s why it took so long, but thank you for sending it anyway! (btw I have watched some b99, but I don’t remember enough of it to really answer these questions about it, sorry <3)
Favourite character: Violet Baudelaire💜🌸 my determined daughter I love her
Least favourite character: He’s a great villain and not unfun to watch, but Olaf is the fucking worst and he keeps ruining my children’s lives get a job already
Top 5 favourite ships from the show (canon or non-canon): Violet x Quigley, Isadora x Violet, Duncan x Klaus, and I like the potential in Jerome x Charles and the unseen beauty of Beatrice x Bertrand
Character I find most attractive: Probably Morena Baccarin as Beatrice Baudelaire, she’s just.. radiant
Character I would marry: Dewey maybe... but he’s with Kit and dead and so is Kit
Character I would be best friends with: I’d think out of the kids I’d get along best with Klaus :)
Random thought: Kit in s3 was just. new Jacqueline
Unpopular opinion: I think the show is good and I like season 3 I care way more for the kid characters than the adults
Most badass character: I kind of unironically wanna say Sunny? she scaled an elevator shaft with her teeth and was on the run for murder before the age of 2. Violet is close second though
Canon otp: I don’t really have one? the ship I like most for the kids is Quiglet, I think they’re really cute, so I’d say that comes closest
Non-canon otp: the Unfortunate Generation x catching a break
Character I feel the writers screwed up in one way or another: if we’re talking adaptation-wise, Jacques and Kit Snicket are obvious ones- they were not done right. Olivia Caliban and Ishmael too were really unnecessarily changed and I think the latter especially really didn’t serve the story
Favourite friendship: I love the friendship between the Quagmires and Baudelaires!! what friends are for bitches!!
Character I want to adopt or be adopted by: I wanna adopt all of the orphaned kids, and I wanna be adopted by uncle Monty :) he was a good guardian
19. Who is the easiest/hardest character for you to write about? Why?
Lily is very easy for me. I mean, James isn’t hard, but Lily is easier I think. Writing in someone’s POV for 10ish years just makes you comfortable with them, because I have a very firm grasp on who she is in any given situation. I also just love her and I love writing her. I only have one fic that is entirely in James’ POV, though I should change that.
Someone that’s hard for me to write about would be Peter. He betrayed them in canon, and I don’t like to write him like that in AU, so I’m torn between making him a likable character, and making him a scumbag like he is in canon. I don’t have a definitive Peter, he seems to change from one fic to the next.
