need a group of 6 boring* people to play a very, very long game of nomic with. preferably with these rules
section a: normal gameplay
immutable: on the start of a players turn, they propose a change to the rules of the game, and then all players will vote. all of this must happen according to the guidelines within section b.
mutable: on a players turn, they must roll a die (standard d6) to determine the number of points to recieve on that turn. the amount awarded to the player is the number on the upright face of the die. if they have not yet won, the player's turn ends and the next player's turn begins.
mutable: the first player to reach 200 points wins.
immutable: a player may only propose to change the rules of the game in one of the following ways: adding a new mutable rule, modifying an existing mutable rule, removing a mutable rule, transmuting an immutable rule into a mutable rule, or transmuting a mutable rule into an immutable rule.
immutable: all players, including the one proposing the rule change, must vote for or against the rule change.**
immutable: the rule change will pass by simple majority.
firm: firm rules may not be added, removed, changed, or transmuted into non-firm rules.***
firm: non-firm rules may not be transmuted into firm rules.
firm: a log of all rule changes shall be kept, maintained, and made publicly visible to players and non-players alike.
firm: likewise, a full list of the games current rules shall be kept, maintained, and made publicly visible to players and non-players alike.
firm: additionally, a log of all players' scores per round shall be kept, maintained, and made publicly visible to players and non-players alike.
firm: no player shall gain any amount of points that is not awarded to them by rule.
firm: discussion shall always be allowed before, during, and after a turn is officially taken.
section d: breaking rules
mutable: if a player is found to be breaking a rule or attempting to do so, they shall be awarded -20 (negative twenty) points.****
turn order shall be determied prior to the beginning of the game, at which point it will be inserted as a firm rule in section c. once the game begins, this section (section e) shall remain for posterity.
*boring as in this interests you and you dont plan on making stupid rules just for the sake of making stupid rules.
**this is to incentivise early rule development, as there is no way to draw in this system with 7 players.
***though this seems contrary to the spirit of the game, most firm rules exist for archival purposes. the other two are to avoid the airbud loophole (where actions are taken simply because no rule exists against them) and the opposite sort of case (where an actions legality comes into unnecessary scrutiny because there is no rule explicitly allowing it). so its basically quality of life.
****i just think this is funny.
