You know, comparing his life now with Amy, and his life with Amy and the Doctor; sure it was a lot less stressful, his life wasn't constantly endangered, and he wasn't paranoid about his wife hooking up with a century year old alien, there was one minor flaw in it. He was completely bored. During his travels with the Doctor, Rory longed for a normal life more than anything, but now it just seemed like he was in a rut. A change of pace was needed.
