(i couldn't put this in another post i'm too excited to format it ; also i hope you don't mind that i put this in some sort of au lol one that's sort of an arranged marriage au with the twist of matchmaking like what you'd see in Mulan and in ancient Chinese history.)
Of course he's not. Wenxia wasn't told anything about this arrangement. Her father's been so eager to send her off. She never would've thought he'd look outside Shu Han for a match. Certainly it wasn't his idea to look towards Kerch. Perhaps it's a strategic idea. Not her taste, but she'll obey.
"It's not that," she purses her lips in thought. "I wasn't expecting anyone from beyond Shu Han's borders. That's such a minor thing though. Where a match is from means nothing in the long run, as it's a match." Here's where she manages a smile. It's not fair to Kaz for her to be sour upon their first meeting.
"Ah, I've started things off with the wrong tone. I'm sorry. I'm excited to learn more about you!"

Alina has a chance to talk back, to snark out a response of defiance. She only glares at Aleksander. Ivan is nearby, so she’s not going to chance having her heart stopped as punishment. Still a quiet, “and I’ll find a way to stamp you out,” is said.
No, wait; she’s not going to explode, but she’s not going to be submissive.
“You’re the monster that’s haunted my life,” she looks up at him with anger. “You’ve haunted Ravka, everyone. I’m going to find a way to stand against you again. There’s nothing you’ll be able to do to stop me.”

the question caught her by surprise –– not that jayce isn’t naturally inquisitive as a part of his personal & professional nature, but because that particular one indicated a curiosity, an interest that was certainly more specific to mel than to councillor medarda, or one of the primary financial interests in hextech. her flashes fluttered in surprise, even as she tried to mask it. in another circumstance, she might have been quite flattered at the suggestion, enough that even now, she mustered up a soft smile. except now, the idea is... less than thrilling. it had nothing to do with jayce & everything to do with herself, everything to do with the still very strained relationship with her mother that she had been avoiding for so many years.
“i appreciate the offer, but i rather spare you the annoyance,” mel offered up, not quite her usual diplomatic nature on the remark. ambessa had been the exception for many things, this, unfortunately, was no different. she reached for him, placing her hand on top of his & giving it a squeeze. “thank you, jayce, for offering. it’s better that i handle this alone. i’m sure that she’ll want to meet you, certain of it. but another time.”

“I know that ... which is why I make sure not to piss you off.” With a smile on his lips, Chishiya nodded his head to the door. “Come on, let’s go do something to help you cool down before you kill people, hm?”

“Then you are the only one ...” Chishiya spoke, his voice soft as he turned to the newest addition to the Beach. “Why are you here? Not enjoying the party?”

Chishiya watched Karube in silence for a moment before simply shrugging. “We’ve all been there, there are worse ways to die.”
