Part 3
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Summary:
“I want him out of my head.” Bucky’s voice cracked over the words. “I don’t want to lose any more time with our daughter. I don’t want to constantly be told all the ways my neighbours could kill me or you or Sarah if I let my guard down. I don’t want to keep waking up far away from you because he can’t deal with… I want him gone.” Steve could see the confusion and grief painted across Bucky's face. But the Soldier wasn’t exactly grief-free either. “Winter's still got a mission Buck.” The mission. A shudder of revulsion ran through Bucky unchecked. “His mission? As far as I’m concerned, Sarah’s an only child. Those babies are gone and grown. There’s no getting them back. Him dredging up the past won't undo anything." ---- Bucky and the Winter Soldier try to figure out if they can live together in their head, and find their children.
Part 4
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Summary:
Critical Error. In the single breathless moment before its firstborn daughter’s eyes found its own, the asset knew this phase of the Mission had been a Critical Error. The electric bolt of connection. No different than the snap of live wire to live wire. Like finding like. Silver, like its. Dangerous, like it was. Predator, like it was. The asset whirled back to Natalia. Waited as Vasilissa stalked past. Every inch between them shivered with threat. Punishment followed error. —- They’ve found Bucky’s eldest daughter. But she didn’t want to be found. The fallout is explosive - in Bucky’s head and in the most literal sense.
Part 5
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Summary:
Sometimes the asset dreamed of a golden ghost. Only when the remnant of Bucky Barnes was lingering at the surface of its mind; when the asset was tired and needed something only a someone could give. It took a lot for the asset to be tired and to need, yet the gravid mass of its pregnancy was enough to push it to that brink. The third child HYDRA had used it to grow for them. 10 days overdue. - Can be read as a standalone though set within The Mission universe. Is also not required reading for the rest of the series, should this not be your thing.
Part 6
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Summary:
Deep beneath the earth, two children lie frozen, skin mottled white and bloodless blue in the cold. The tips of their dark brown hair are frosted over. Each of their chins bears a single dimple. The children are waiting for Steve Rogers to find them, to bring them home to their father. The journey won't be easy, but the Winter Soldier has waited decades to see them again.
Part 7
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Summary:
A new year is approaching for the Barnes-Rogers family. But old worlds don't end easily.
Part 8
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Summary:
They’d been laughing. At Bert listing all the ways in which Baby Shark was the most abhorrent musical creation ever. At Sarah’s insistence on singing Baby Shark throughout her brother’s rant. At Avery playing the gritty teenager already, headphones on to remain aloof from her siblings’ childishness. Bucky had been having his own private laugh at Steve, who was grousing for at least the 19th time in his pregnancy that Tony should repurpose Stark Industries to improve the design of seatbelts for anyone carrying a baby for 5 months or more. They’d been laughing and then they were gone. Bucky's children gone. Steve gone. It was happening again.
