I mean the only muslims and non savarna people who are gonna benefit under Congress rule are cishet male ones bc congress in known for targeting the orthodox and barely literate/illiterate group of people from both communities n chose leaders from them to employ as MLAs in their party who reflect the orthodox views of that group of people i. E misogynist and homophobic. Congress rule isnt gonna change anything for queer muslim women so im voting for my local party who isnt like them

Voting for your local party is something I am all for, because you’re right. Congress is only going to help the advancement of cis het urban men. It’s a horrible situation and I really don’t have any faith in what will happen right now. But yes neither is good.

I dont think we should vote Congress Bc congress isnt gonna do shit for Muslims when it comes into office. As much as they claim to be secular and pro muslim the only pro muslim thing they do is not actively show their hands in Islamophobic and anti lower cast violence by either turning a blind eye to it or pass blame and im saying it as a muslim woman who has gone thru 8 years of congress rule in india n have seen muslims suffering too. We need a party which actively challenges islamphobia

I definitely agree with that. India needs a party that actually cares and actually does shit. That doesn’t exist. And that is terrifying. Things feel hopeless. But if the BJP is re-elected is that going to be better? If the BJP cheats in the election and wins and pushes to make India an officially Hindu nation, is that better?

Honestly I don’t have answers to those questions. But it seems like a lesser of two evils situation and it’s up to each voter to make that calculation. I’ve calculated it one way. All I’m saying is people pretending that Hindus are victimized is just softcore(or hardcore, depending) Hindu nationalism and myopic hurt pride.

are you aware that in pakistan only recently two young hindu women were kidnapped and forcibly converted into islam by forcibly being married off and being r*ped?? This is only a recent thing and its been happening ALOT with hindus in pakistan and in some places in india so yeah you cant just say "hinduphobia isnt real" when alot of them suffer bc of radical islamic people (not implying that all muslims are like that, just the radical islam supporting ones)

Yes. I am. And it’s horrifying and sad. That doesn’t change the fact that in the grand scheme of the world radical Islam has hurt more muslims than it ever has Hindus. And the west is fearful of Islam in a way that they never were of Hindus (unless they thought a Hindu was a Muslim). In contexts related to Indian politics Modi has been sanctioning massacre against Muslims since the 90s. In that context, can Hindus be killed and descriminated against in Pakistan—yes of course. But I wouldn’t call it Hinduphobia just like I wouldn’t discrimination against white people in a brown country “whitephobia”

You’re right. The options suck. Especially for a lesbian woman like me. But first off gay marriage has never been legal in India. Section 337 just stopped gay sex from being illegal. And just having it be legal doesn’t necessarily change the oppression gay people face AT ALL.

But, to me, Modi is like Trump. His being in office has given Hindu nationalists the nerve and the blessing to go out and make everyone who isn’t a savarna Hindu’s life hell.

Also modi hasn’t brought anything good to India as PM or fulfilled any of his campaign promises. If you acknowledge both parties are shit why not vote congress?
