The University of Michigan-Dearborn had set up two virtual ‘cafe’ events advertised as a “non-POC Cafe” and “BIOPIC Cafe”.
The University of Michigan-Dearborn issued an apology on Wednesday for creating segregated online student “cafes,” one for white people and another for people of colour, that it says were intended to promote discussions about race and diversity.

I found these in my inbox and I had no where to put them. Sweet and well intentioned. But this blog is a little different from dyed hair blogs.
sorry this is a personal question but my current otp is a white guy with an Indonesian guy... I’m white but I feel that I emotionally relate more to the Indonesian guy. of course I’’m super thrilled that there’s finally a canon gay relationship that’s not between two white guys, I am also interested in cosplay and I don’t want to whitewash. is it ok for me to cosplay this character, and what rules do I follow to keep it from being white washing or racist in any way?
again, I’m not trying to be problematic. this just happens to be my all time favorite character in the series. please give me feedback, I really am making an effort not to be a bad white guy like so many we see today, but I just don’t know these things.
Thanks for your responses?
So I was sitting next to a black woman talking to a black man today at a coffee shop where I was working...Okay I was eavesdropping but that's beside the point... The woman was talking about the last time her cousin called the police because she felt unsafe and the cop sexually harassed her cousin. She didn't report him because who was she supposed to tell? She went on to say how tired she was of not knowing who to turn to, of feeling invisible. She said she was constantly feeling invisible, even in her own community. (Here was my cue right? Because obviously she wasn't invisible to me) I awkwardly mumbled to her that I hope she could feel safe around me, that I want to know how to help and I know it's hard. And you know what this beautiful soul of a person said? She said thank you and she knows it's not just hard for her, it's hard for all women. See what she did there? She immediately began to empathize with me. Because that's what happens when you experience hardship... You understand that everybody is battling something and you work to share the burden. She went on to say that what I can do is speak up. Speak up when I see something because it's harder when you are the person feeling unsafe. Sometimes you are tired or scared and it's easier when you are not immediately affected to do something. So this is my lengthy and obnoxious challenge to myself and to anyone else who is striving to be better this new year- be brave enough to let go of some of your privilege and share the burdens of others- this especially goes for all of you white guys I know who are at the top of the social totem pole. Speak up when you hear something or see something. Use the privilege you have to be brave enough to risk losing it. Help those that need help, speak up for those that are so tired of having to do all the work themselves. Thanks Anahise for letting me hear your words and for taking the time to teach me something that needs to be taught. Your story deserves to be told and you deserve to be seen.
Also: poc please check me if I need to be checked on this. It's very important for me to know when my intentions are misplaced!
