“Steven didn’t actually want to wear a dress on stage! He just did it to help Sadie out! It doesn’t mean anything!”
Right, because it’s not like he said “You never wanted this. It was always me.” Meaning, he didn’t realize it at first, but he always wanted it to be him - including the dress and the make-up.
Also, he could have simply gone up on stage and sung the song in the clothes he was wearing, but he chose to wear Sadie’s dress, because he wanted to.
“Steven chose to wear a dress on stage! That means SHE’s transgender and if you disagree you’re transphobic!”
Right, because that’s the only reason why a boy would EVER want to wear a dress and do feminine things - because he’s actually a girl. You do realize you’re just enforcing gender stereotypes with this, right? Anyone can wear dresses and make-up. That doesn’t make someone a girl.
Now don’t get me wrong, if you want to headcanon Steven as trans or non-binary or genderfluid, please GO AHEAD, you can headcanon whatever you want. I understand what it’s like to want representation so badly, because it just doesn’t exist anywhere, so you start looking for it wherever you can and making up headcanons that you cling to. I get it.
I think both trans girl Steven and non-binary Steven are lovely headcanons, and if the Crewniverse ever decided to actually make Steven come out as trans or NB, that would be awesome. But for now, it’s not canon.
So please stop fighting with people who don’t agree with your headcanon, and stop insisting that everyone should use she/her pronouns for Steven, just because he wore a dress.
