Alt!
@auropenguHe looked up at the apartment block that Mirab– Mira LaChance called home. While it was significantly cleaner and in better repair than the rest of the neighborhood it was still a place a lot of people in the area he lived in would not even set foot into. Avery got out of his car once more, again locking it, before making his way into the building. Inside was brightly light, the floors actually looked relatively new, though the elevator wasn’t working. In fact there was someone trying to fix it. A woman by the look of it. Her butt filled out the coveralls she was wearing rather nic– The woman turned around when she felt Avery staring. It was none other than Mira LaChance. The coveralls she had on were a bit grease stained and unbuttoned in the front, revealing her black lace bra. There were grease smears on her chest, neck, and even one or two on her face. A red bandanna was tied over her raven hair to keep it out of her face and out of the grease that seemed to get every where. Cool, blue-gray eyes looked him over for a beat before Mira raised an eyebrow at Avery, getting to her feet as she wiped grease off of the wrench in her hand.
“What can I do for you sir?”
She asked. Her voice cool and calm. Her accent was very light, more of a Southern Belle sound than the Cajun ones of her neighbors. The pitch of her voice was sweet, soft, and melodious, and she smiled slightly as Avery stood there gaping at her.
“I– Uh. I’m Detective Jamison Avery and I was hoping to speak to you Miss LaChance.”
Avery said holding out his hand.
Mira took her time wiping the grease off her hand before taking Avery’s hand and shaking it.
“Well speak. And it’s Mira. Just Mira. Everyone called my Mama Miss LaChance. Sorry I can’t offer you a more polite setting with cookies and lemonade, but someone has to fix this damn thing or all the older folk who live here won’t be able to get out– or come in.”
Mira kicks at the gearbox that was situated in the lower wall and as she does it starts turning again. She muttered some rather impolite and unladylike expletives under her breath, scrambled into the shaft, retrieved her tools and jumped back out just as the car came down.
Avery just stood there staring again, not sure whether to laugh, to yell at her for being so foolish as to jump into an elevator shaft with the car coming down, or to just shake his head. Avery settled for shaking his head.
“So about that nicer setting….”
Mira looked over her shoulder at him, stares for a beat, and then bursts into laughter.
“Darlin’, you don’t want to eat my cookin’! In fact the only thing we use the food I make around here for is rat poison. I’m lucky that my neighbor is willin’ to cook for me as well as her family or I’d starve!”Mira LaChance (Valentine) and Detective Jamison Avery – Gaia Guild Role-plays (Multi-Fantasy Genre)
Update on my computer trouble for anyone who is curious
My computer died the other day, or, one of the RAM sticks did. Figures it’d be the bigger, newer one, too (6GB). I have no idea. I’m no computer whizz, but it sucks and I haven’t been able to use my computer for the past few days. :(
I’ve been poking at it every once in a while to try and get it to work, and by swapping my 2GB RAM stick into another slot, I have somehow revived my computer. Barely. (Thank you @smol-nevi.) It runs on 2GB of RAM instead of 8GB, lol. Thankfully this is the minimum requirement to playing FFXIV. :D And nothing else while I do. :D Everything is slow and ugly. xD Which kind of sucks, but I can at least use my computer and keep doing the stuff I enjoy. I have yet to launch SAI to see if that will run on 2GB, but if it doesn’t I at least know that MS Paint works fine. |D
I’m hoping I’ll be able to get a new RAM stick, or replace both of them. I’m not sure if there are any other problems wrong with my computer, but knowing my shit luck there probably is. ~,~ I mentioned my problems in the FC and one of my FC mates said it might be the mother board, which sucks even more because I know that shit is important.
Computers are assholes. Thanks for reading.
This is a masterpiece and should really be appreciated more.
Thank you @xaoganajai for showing me this.
