1. When did your mage’s magic first manifest?meical’s magic manifested when he was 9 years old. he was bickering with his sister seren, and just wanted to knock her bowl of porridge out of her hands, but ended up freezing it.
2. Did they try to keep it a secret from their family/close friends?no. he wouldn’t have been able to keep it a secret even if he wanted to, since his sister saw it happen and she absolutely cannot keep quiet. but since he’s dalish, having magic is seen as a gift. his parents had hoped that one or more of their children would be mages, so they were proud of him.
3. Has their magic ever hurt anyone by mistake?nothing more serious than being grazed by a wayward frost spell during his early training. any injury would promptly be healed by the keeper. in later years, meical has very precise control over his magic, and if anyone gets hurt, it isn’t by accident. (actually, fire magic is an exception, he doesn’t control that very well, which is part of the reason why he stays away from it)
4. Which spells came naturally and which were more difficult to learn?elemental magic is what comes most naturally to him, particularly frost. he has trouble with fire magic and prefers not to use it, it doesn’t bend to his will easily and he doesn’t trust his ability to wield it. creation magic is another school of magic that he struggled to learn. he’s capable of healing, but the results are sometimes unpredictable.
5. What is their favourite spell?fade step. he loves to teleport around, appearing and disappearing at a moment’s notice.
6. Do they put a lot of time into studying magic?yes, provided it’s his own choice and he finds it interesting. he tends to hyperfocus on specific areas of study, so he’ll read anything he comes across on the topic. however, he wasn’t a very good first/student to the keeper, since he loses interest when someone else dictates what he should learn about.
7. What attracted them to their specialization?meical is a necromancer, and he finds the theory very interesting. necromancy goes beyond what most think can or should be done with magic, and that appeals to meical’s rebellious and experimental side.
8. How does your mage get along with other mages?he gets along well with other mages, excited at the opportunity to discuss magic, exchange ideas for spells, perhaps new uses for old spells. however, these conversations are easier to have with other dalish mages, or otherwise free ones. circle mages can be a bit hit and miss, and he mostly feels sorry for them.
9. Does your mage have any sympathy for Templars?none. the templar order is unnecessary and abusive. former templars may be forgiven depending on the circumstances and their current opinions.
10. Do they consider magic a blessing or a curse?magic is a gift from the creators, there is not a doubt in meical’s mind about that.
