“Happy Valentine’s Day, Captain,” she says with a smile, handing him a card along with a tin full of heart shaped cookies, “I hope you like them; they go well with a cup of tea.”

“Just let me die.”
Did... She hear that right? She stared down at Levi, wet still from being pulled from the river. She could hear Floch saying something unsavory behind her, but she couldn’t bring herself to care about that. Not when the one person that’d been with her through everything, who hadn’t died, laying in the carriage, bleeding out slowly.
Where had his leg gone? His hand? She was given permission to get him tourniquets, but... Would he even make it? Mike, Nanaba were dead... Erwin was dead... Moblit was dead... Was he really going to die, too?
“Levi, don’t say something like that. You’ll be fine. You’re okay. Don’t think about it. Look at me.”

She smiles a little, in spite of herself. If there was anyone that one could count on to snap them out of such nihilistic thoughts, then it had to be the Captain.
“...You’re right. I know.”
...Ahh, when did she become like this? When she promised herself that she was going to live for her own sake, and for nobody else - what had happened to that resolve? As she asks herself those questions with a kind of bitter remorse, she wonders how many more things had slipped away without her realizing it.
She hasn’t abandoned that promise. ...And yet, everything is so different now. How many more tragedies must they suffer through until the world has had enough? Try as she might, she cannot simply harden her heart and carry on. Though she swore that she would not sacrifice anymore of herself; the world keeps taking, piece by piece - and she wonders, absently - by the end, will there be any of me left? But she must keep fighting, and she must keep giving, for if she stops - what happens then? That same cruel world will surely take everyone she has ever loved, and her as well.
' Ymir... what would you think of me, now? ’
“Then, Captain,” she speaks, and her words are too heavy; voice too weary to be coming from someone so young as she is. But they’ve all been forced to become this way, haven’t they? ...Is it worth it?
“...What do we do?”
@nondolor (continued from here!)
“Just let me die.”
“No!” She yelled, louder than necessary considering their proximity, but the volume of her voice was the least of her concerns.
He was gravely injured, battered and bloodied and certainly never a sight she’d have ever expected to see her captain in, his blade partially impaled into the far right side of his chest.
She didn’t have much on her, a horse, some food, maybe a bit of gauze and bandages in a saddlebag if she looked. They were a good distance from the nearest town, and even still, she had no immediate idea of how to go about even getting him anywhere safely.
“I’m not letting you die and I’m not leaving you here like this.”
She could never; not after all they had been through, not when they still needed him, not when she was far from ready to say goodbye.
“We’ll figure this out just...tell me what happened to you?”
“Are you threatening me?”
“It depends on if you’re going to be difficult about this.” He was hog-tied and laying in the dirt like a dog. One would think that such a position would make someone more... Agreeable. But no. He started down at the shorter man, and knelt down in the grass to get a better look at him. He gripped the tie near his hands to tug him to the side to get a better look at his face, staring him down.
“If you show me where you put the money you stole, you won’t have to worry about that ‘threat.’“ He wasn’t about to get more criminal low-lifes running around his town in search of this one’s prize. He had enough trouble running the jail as it was. He only had so many damn cells.
