Hey! Science person here! I think cancer isn't considered autoimmune because the cancerous cells have undergone a genetic change so they are functionally distinct from the body's typical naturally occurring cells, whereas in autoimmune disease it's unmodified or unchanged immune cells that are attacking the body. I'm not an expert on these particular things but I do have a moderately broad background in bio/medical stuff! (please feel free to follow up with more questions if this isn't clear)

I guess I was just thinking that autoimmune just meant anything where the body attacked itself, like I’ve often described cancer as like being a bodily civil war. That makes sense though.

Fun fact about team tournaments! In my experience if a team is doing very well (like well enough that it would be hard for them to lose) it is very very common for beginners to sub in to get experience. So even if you aren't very good you may well get a chance to get in there.
