Golden Day - Golden Logo

So my logo has been through numerous rehauls over the years, and it seems each year it just keeps getting better and better. I am sure this is not my final rehaul but it is definitely going to be for the next couple of years. I’m sure I’ll find more imperfections while I am studying at the university. 

I was having some trouble finding out where I should spend my time this week, and I found solace in editing my logo because last year I ordered some business cards and they did not turn out as expected. I am assuming it is because I did not convert the paths properly in Adobe Illustrator. In any case, I rebuilt the same logo from the ground up using proper file paths. I will post a photo of the business card mishap in another entry. 

This past year I was extremely fascinated with the golden ratio and its use within the graphic design community, especially with logos. I felt it was best to try and incorporate this ratio into my design because I saw a lot of potential and opportunity. As of now, I used the ratio for the arms stemming out, and I used the circles found within the ratio to dictate the size of the skull, the eyes, the nostrils and the crown. Overall I am pretty pleased with the new dimensions of the logo, except for the fact that when I downscale the image for social media it looks a bit small & thin. But I will trust the ratio for now and worry about more updates in the future. - Vio™

Day 42 & 43 - Teaser Company Reveal! 

I wanted to get something done for social media to keep me on track. I primarily wanted an ending for the company reel, and found a cleaver way to make multiple treatments. The teaser I made is all futuristic, glitches, game boy, digital feel to it. I realized I could make a unique one for every piece, but right now the main component is the liquid reveal of the brand logo. 

Two things are accomplished with this. One is that the company is going to specialize in liquid dynamics, and the other is that it can be used over and over.  The liquid reveal of the brand logo will remain the same, while using different theme’s and treatments that relate to the piece. 

Next is chipping out that solid theme, and the landscape for the reel. The world, the lighting and the mood. Sound - is still a very big concern, wanted to use a certain soundtrack, yet wanted something original. I did find a sound designer I have the most up respect for, and super excited he got back to me, so hopefully we can arrange something! Well get back to you on that.

Slack-hor!?

I think not. I did put my portfolio revision on hold once again, to help my mom with her renovations. I thought she needed my help more than me reaching a portfolio deadline. And since she's always been there for me my entire life, ... that I could spare a couple months of my life.

It was a great experience, I helped her a lot with painting, and helping her choose stuff for the bedrooms, designing my own bedroom, shopping for light fixtures, wallpaper, furniture, etc. It's tiring! So in a way I didn't stop designing at all, I was just using a different medium. 

And technically I'm still not done, and the house still needs works, but I told my mom this weekend that I can't put my life on complete hold anymore, and that I will be continuing to develop my portfolio while the rest gets done. So yesterday was my first day back, and I realized I was neglecting my blog again! Lol

Well considering where I left off, I was really undecided which direction should take my website. I was unsure if I should develope two, one strictly for my personal portfolio and one for my business I've always been developing. In some senses I believe I need to stand apart from non.elite and have my own personal presence, and on the other, non.elite has been taking so much of my time that it has become me. But when I need to substantiate who I am as a designer, and what non.elite stands for - I feel blurred in grey territory. I have a difficult time trying to define myself as oppose to not accidentally trying to define both non.elite and myself. I suppose I could just make a staff page on non.elite. And I could distinguish myself there.

I usually don't show my own work on my blog because my Behance has my projects. But I just wanted to share it because I love it so much, & I really feel like I accomplished something worth sharing.

To those cinema 4D Pros - I know it's just meta balls, but it took me a couple years of study to get to this point, where I can now incorporate C4D into my projects, which is a huge milestone for me - especially since it is my dream to become a motion graphics artist. 

I also emailed the publicists of Blue Foundation, and asked if I could use part of the song Eyes on Fire. They said Yes! how cool is that? :D
