Many people have the mistaken idea that people who believe in practicing non-harm, who believe violence is never an appropriate response are never allowed to get angry, are never allowed to say anything upsetting. This is not non-harm, this is being spineless. Does a mother avoid reprimanding her child for bad behavior? Does an effective teacher ignore mistakes made by a student for fear of damaging the student’s self-esteem?
