1) Reading a good book for the first time. Nothing beats that feeling when you’re reading along, just being like YAAAAAS YAAAAAASSSSSSS the entire time, trying to figure out where the story is going

2) Writing. It’s such a release value for me. Now that I’m in practice, if I don’t write at least a little every day I get cranky

3) The strange things my son says every day. This morning he saw a woven bookmark my husband got from Japan and said “What is this beautiful red thing?”

4) That pause people have as they’re laughing after I’ve said something, when I can see they’re thinking right, this is why I’m friends with you

5) Dessert. Do I need to explain? Dessert is wonderful man.

To be honest, the amount of time it took to get those two crazy kids into bed together (and, ya know, doing *stuff*) was as much for Obi as it was Shirayuki. They are both working on their worthiness issues and this might have been a teeny tiny bit too soon for him emotionally (her, too, but like... she’s processing the experience differently).

I promise you he was *not* thinking like this in the main storyline when they finally did the thing.

But, like, Obi beats the shit out of himself so beautifully. How could I not?

Hi, yes, hello! I have a question regarding the wonderful modern au you've cultivated. Does anyone have a preferred food/snack to binge eat during times of stress/exam periods? Who stocks up on stuff like a squirrel, and who usually does food runs for friends in need? I must know for science reasons plz!

Okay, OKAY, I have been thinking about this for a while, and I am STILL thinking about it, but for Shirayuki and Obi:

Shirayuki: the girl that brings a huge basket of homemade baked goods to study group because she stress bakes. I was up all night worrying about steric bulk an how we have four different kinds of muffins and some scones. I hope you like scones. I spent more time looking up recipes than I did studying.

Also, since she went to woodland faerie school, she starts off cooking healthy baked goods. Bran muffins. Morning glories. Uses applesauce instead of oil or butter, and that vague chocolate taste? Carob. Carob is the new chocolate, don’t you know? I used agave nectar instead of sugar. But Obi wears her down. Come on, Doc. Make me a cookie. I expect you to use butter. You better frost that shit too, yo. NO FAKE SUGAR, DOC.

Now she cooks all kinds of things, but her favorite is brownies. They’re quick, only take one bowl with most recipes until you get real fancy, and that chocolate takes the edge off eight straight hours of studying.

Obi: Will literally eat everything. Did that drop on the floor? Still good. Dropped it in the sink? Then it’s clean now, that’s how sinks work. Shirayuki consistently finds snack caches all over their apartment. His room, the living room, why are there fiery hot cheetos under the bathroom sink??? You can get hungry anywhere, Doc.

Obi is more a salty snack person than sweet, and he probably gets anything – no matter HOW GROSS – that says it’s spicy. Like those Dorito roulette bags? Obi’s jam. Shirayuki could gag at how terrible his tastes are.

After a while, he does start developing something close to what Shirayuki can call taste, but he still loves to eat terrible-for-you food. Like Funyuns. LOVES funyuns. Dear god Obi what do your insides look like

LEMME TELL YOU how determined I was to make Shirayuki the stripper. IT WAS SO MUCH. Like Obi would be easy. TOO EASY. So of course I went awkward first time strip-o-gram
