Analysis of The Honorable Ones' s french dialogue by yours truly (it's cuter than you'd think)

Okay. Okay okay okay

I decided to watch THE episode in french (i struggled. so much.lmaoo) to see if there would be actual changes of dialogue, and to my surprise, there were some. But the one that really struck with me is the moment they part ways.

"You know, we will treat you fairly."

"I'll take my chances with the Empire, Zeb."

Vs. in french (rough translation sorry)

"Don't be scared//afraid, we will treat you good on board."

"No Zeb, I'd prefer trying my luck and wait for the Empire's arrival." And then instead of 'Zeb', he actually says "It's better."

FIRST OF ALL the genuine care Zeb has showed him throughout the episode in french kinda surprised me ? For example, instead of telling Kallus "Hold still." when fixing up his leg he says "Grit your teeth." (not sure if it makes sense in english) which, to me, is like saying "That's gonna hurt, be ready." but in an oddly caring manner.

Anyway, the way Zeb just assumes Kallus is coming with him really got me. In english, he's more suggesting for him to tag along. (At least i understand it as such.) In french, he just straight up TELLS him that he's coming, while also REASSURING him.

Now, I'm not quite sure what Kallus means by "That's better." Is he really just saying he'd still rather stay with the Empire ? Is he saying their current situation is better left untouched ? Anyway, I think it makes the end, when he sees that his beloved Empire clearly did not give a crap about him, even sadder. Thinking this was best for himself, to find out it had really only been one sided this entire time. (Which obviously is the case for the english ver. as well, only it's more explicit//clear in french)

Kallus, on the other hand, didn't have any real difference in dialogue, but rather in tone. The way he speaks in french makes some words sound much softer, more caring than intended. The only actual change that I noticed was,

"You're going to hurt yourself !" (When Zeb is climbing the walls for the first time)

Vs.

"Stop it, or you're going to hurt yourself !"

Again, the way he says it makes it sound much sweeter than it even is. The way he not only warns Zeb, but also tells him to genuinely stop.

Ugh.

What I take away from the french verison except for Zeb's exaggerated voice, (and the teens kinda sounding like grown ass adults) is that both Zeb and Kallus show more care for one another in this episode, in some way. Zeb shows it through words, while Kallus shows it through tone. And I think that really fits them, in the end. (Again, it's VERY little, but it's all about the DETAILS Jeremy)
