ok so i go to school in "the institute" and the campus is pretty innacurate imo save for some monumental buildings, also the streets in the game arent accurate (like on the cambridge side especially, cambridge at least the area surrounding mit has generally very straight streets, and in the game they seem to be real windy and shit) but its cool i guess, its nice going through and seeing some popular spots :)

sure!! You’ll need
food (i recommend dry because cats dont chew on things like dogs so wet food builds up plaque. You can do dry and wet if u want)

water bowl: pro tip some cats dont like to drink from bowls that their whiskers can touch. The bigger the bowl better. But dont worry if u dont see your cat drinking often they are just programmed to not be big drinkers (learned this in class the other day).
a brush (i recommend the kong zoomgroom for shedding cats it works so well and is cheap as hell. for long haired cats you will need something that can detangle like a wide tooth comb.) Short haired cats really only need to be brushed during shedding season, if u dont be prepared for vomit… Long haired cats you need to detangle especially if they’re BIG because some cats like that cant reach certain spots so they may mat on their butt or back etc if its an old cat or w/e. Pros of long haired cats tho: some breeds like the american curl are actually pretty good if u have allergies
Toys: things that flutter like prey are recommended. If u have an active cat u should play with it then feed, then it should groom then sleep.
A cat bed. the higher the walls the better!

Scratching post: if ur cat is scratching furniture put double sided tape on the part they scratch, their paws will get stuck and the will hate it. Offer a nice scratching post as an alternative. Try putting it next to the furniture its been scratching. (Putting cat nip on it might help too if its really not interested in the post)
DO NOT DECLAW YOUR CAT!!!!!!!!!! NOT ONLY is it cruel (amputation of knuckles, not just the claw) but it is most likely going to cause the cat pain, and a cat with sensitive feet will be picky about its litterbox and you will end up with a sad cat in pain whos PEEING ALL OVER UR HOUSE
Pro tip: (most) Cats love to be in high places they are going to want to be on the kitchen table, the counter, the chairs, even the fridge or the tops of door. If u dont want their litter box paws on the table 1. too bad 2. offer alternatives like a cat tree (expensive) or cat shelves (mount these on the wall in a pattern they can climb. U can find these for like 20 bucks or make your own very easily). The higher up the cat the more confident the cat. (there are obviously exceptions tho)
Cat hammocks for the window are awesome too! Having somewhere for your cat to perch and watch birds is pretty much a necessity. (My friend just cleared a spot on a table they already had next to a window for her cat its pretty simple)
I DO NOT recommend letting your cat be an outdoor cat. I could make a list of why but itd be really long.
If you have a screened in porch however let that kitty out there!
My cats are escape artists they’re always trying to get outside when we open the door so watch your feet!!
Cats dont have a collar bone and can fit into any space the size of their head. Keep this in mind if theres somewhere you dont want that cat to be (ie behind furniture, under furniture, anywhere with a lot of wires)
DONT leave your cat alone with yarn string ribbon etc and and DONT have tinsel in the house for the holidays they will eat it and it will kill them (fucks with their intestines)
NO LILLIES IN THE HOUSE ON EASTER OR EVER
BE CAREFUL if u have a christmas tree they will climb it and knock it the fuck over and it will destroy every ornament (talking from experience)
Your cat WILL eat your houseplants. U can either move them out of reach (do not underestimate where they will jump) or buy a bitter spray from petco to deter them
Dont expect your cat to be a lap cat. If u really want a lap cat ur gonna have to go to a shelter and look for one. A lot of cats get overstimulated with petting. Get to know ur cats limits and when to stop petting. The older the cat the better the chance of getting a cat thats gonna snuggle with u. Breeds like ragdolls birmans make pretty good lap cats.
Siamese cats are fucking loud and dont shut up but they’re the smartest of cats.
great cat game: get a stick or long plastic thing (literally anything, like the handle of a cat toy, even a straw) and slowly slowly drag it under a carpet or towel until it disappears. im 99.9999 percent sure ur cat will flip the fuck out
Even if its an indoor cat ur cats gonna catch something. dont flip out if they catch a mouse, bird, snake, rat, etc. They wILL go after bees so keep them the fuck away so they dont get stung. Also, despite what u might hear they’re NOT immune to scorpion stings. They’re just really fucking fast and will probably not get stung. But still, take them to the vet if they do. Also if u live where theres rattlesnakes be careful. Ur cat will fuckin square off with a rattlesnake. Scaredy cat is a stupid term bc cats will swat anything, crocodiles, bears, snakes, anything. Obviously dont let them do this. this all falls under “dont let it be an outdoor cat”

overall cats are low maintenance and very chill the only concern i would have is money for vet appointments and food and litter.
