Thomas Hutchings is a professional saxophonist and music producer living in New York City for over 20 Years, originally from Clark, AFB, Philippines and raised in Idaho. Thomas can be found regularly performing at various corporate, private, charity events and live music venues around the world. As a professional saxophonist, he has performed and recorded with many incredible local and international artists across many genres giving him a global sense for combining sounds and rhythm. He’s also constantly writing, producing and recording music with many talented artists. Thomas is a SESAC Member (Performing Rights Organization) & Voting Member of The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences & Producers & Engineers wing (AKA The Grammys). He also writes & records electronic based music influenced by The Beastie Boys, Grover Washington, Jr., Michael Brecker, RJD2, Bunky Green, and DJ Magic Mike. Thomas records saxophone and wind synth sounds over electronic elements & beats created using samples and found sounds that crossover many genres and moods from Jazz, House, EDM & Funk and their various combinations. Thomas has a Digital Distribution contract with The Orchard and founded music production and distribution company, Artists Without Labels.Thomas has appeared on television & has produced and/or recorded music that has appeared on Episodes of Love Monkey, Keeping Up with The Kardashians, MTV's Real World, Nickelodeon and various TV shows & indie Films as a saxophonist.

Some beautiful NYC serendipity took place today and I had the chance to catch up with @jasonmarshalljazz in the street for a moment. One thing I love about this cat is that we can talk about life in the before times of NYC, and I don’t mean before C19. I mean before 9/11. He’s one of a handful of cats that I met and used to used to hang with back in the late 90’s that are still here fervently pursuing music and life with the same vigor as 20 years ago, but with more acquired skill and wisdom. Our conversation reminded me that The fellowship of working musicians can be as transcendent and healing as any community where the members actively keep their hearts and minds open to allowing access to genuine expression of their voice, artistry, and craft. Always a blessing to hear, make music, or just have a conversation with this cat. I did a sound gig last week as the sole audio engineer for small event mixing music and speeches. Nothing too crazy, but It went well, except for a few minor technical glitches with the house gear that I had no control over. I’m really enjoying doing audio and stagehand work. Especially with the helpful high quality people I’m working around and the really great lighting and video techs that work these gigs with me. I’ve been a stagehand my entire life and didn’t know it until recently. It’s so fun to still be able to discover new things that I enjoy doing. Feels invigorating and inspiring to have so many options behind the events and also on stage as a performer. Both are creative in different ways. Endangered! There’s so little wildlife where I live that seeing these sculptures really got me in the feels. There these huge sculpted heads and something is so fascinating about seeing them while at the same time sad because they are all endangered species. Faces of the Wild" features nine, six-foot-tall sculptures depicting critically endangered animals. Yo I jammed with these cats at Shrine Sunday night and it was wonderful. It been a while since got to play my heart out on a real stage under some bright lights with some jazzy mofos like these! They were swingin seriously hard on some Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock vibes. I didn’t catch the name of the group, but it was special to rock with them for a few minutes. One things for sure, there is no shortage well-mannered cats that improvise their asses off in this town. This is exactly why I moved here many years ago. Musicians can be fierce lions onstage here, but off stage they have the biggest hearts as and minds imaginable which is why they’re so great! Malachy McCourt to Host Production Raising Funds for Iconic NYC Theater Proceeds from February Show will aid Theater 80’s recovery from pandemic shutdown Legendary Irish-American writer and actor Malachy McCourt is stepping in to help ensure that the historic off-Broadway landmark, Theater 80, does not become another casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic. Tales From the Sometimes Why; An Evening of Monologues, Music, and Dance will take place at Theater 80 on February 26 (8pm showtime). The show was created by New York writer/director Dan Brown. Malachy McCourt has lent his name to the show as a producer, and he will host this fundraiser event. Like so many New York entertainment venues Theater 80, located at 80 St. Marks’s Place in lower Manhattan, has struggled to survive as the worldwide pandemic enters its third year. In January 2020 Theater 80 owner Lorcan Otway began the process of reopening the venue for live productions. However, the financial devastation of lengthy closures and reduced seating capacity as an audience safety measure has made keeping the doors open at Theater 80 an uphill challenge. The history of the site where Theater 80 makes its home goes all the way back to the days of prohibition. In its time as a nightclub the venue provided a stage for such performers as John Coltrane, Frank Sinatra, and Thelonious Monk. In 1964 Theater 80 as its known today began staging live productions including, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown starring Gary Burghoff and Bob Balaban. In the 70’s and 80’s Theater 80 screened cinema classics as a film revival house. Today Theater 80 holds the look and feel of a museum. The bar area still maintains the aura upon which its history was built, and Lorcan Otway is always on hand to share stories about the legends who have worked the stage or occupied a barstool at this jewel on St. Marks Place.
