#JewelledJuly Day 4- Nur-Ul-Ain/Noor-Ul-Ain (The Light of the Eye) Tiara, Harry Winston, 1958- pink, yellow and white diamonds, set in platinum. Iranian Imperial Collection. Taking it's name from it's centerpiece stone, this tiara was designed by Harry Winston for the occasion of the Empress Farah's wedding to Mohammed Reza the last Shah of Iran. Measuring about 60 carats, the Nur-Ul-Ain Diamond is the second largest pink diamond in the world, and is believed to have been brought from India, along with it's companion, the Darya-I-Nur Diamond. Both diamonds are thought to be a part of the Great Table Diamond, a 400 carat beauty that decorated the throne of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. The diamond is set in platinum, and is surrounded by 324 diamonds in shades of pink, yellow, and white, ranging from 14 to 19 carats each. Empress Farah wore the tiara throughout her years as Queen consort and then Empress of Iran and she perhaps the only person who will ever wear it. When the Shah and his family went into exile in 1979, Empress Farah did not take the bigger jewels with her, since most of them belonged to the crown and were not her personal property. Today the tiara, along with the rest of the Iranian crown jewels are on display at the National Treasury of Iran in the Central Bank in Tehran. @harrywinston #jewelledjuly #nurulain #noorulain #harrywinston #iraniancrownjewels #empressfarah #famousgems #famousdiamonds #famousjewelry #diamonds #pinkdiamond #yellowdiamond
