So yeah we went to see Jordan Peele's
new horror masterpiece NOPE
which apparently has a interesting meaning
it is suppose to be the audiences reaction.
Now before reading any further this may
contain spoilers I'm going to try to
not spoil anything but you have been
warned.
Now I have been enjoying Jordan Peele's
horror movies for the most part. The only
one I didn't really like was Us all that
much it was ok but wasn't as good as
Get Out. I also thought his take
on Candyman was good to so I was
interesting in seeing this one
with its hinting at aliens
type of thing.
Now I'll have to say this is
a great movie. Its a lil different
then what I though it was going to
be but it was still great.
I would have to say it was
creepy AF and absolutely terrifying
at certain points
like the scene where OJ Haywood (Daniel Kaluuya)
is in the barn and he sees the "aliens"
that was a very scary moment I thought
I was like "OMG! there is more then one!!"
I would say this movie does have you
wrapped up in its terror and mystery
about what is going on for the majority
of its run time.
The problem I kinda had though is
you loose that horror momentum
near the end of the movie
when the 4 characters head out
capture "Jean Jacket"
(that's what they call it)
on film and have this kinda
kinda show down with the creature
that kinda turns into this I don't
know some type of butterfly/kite type
of thing?
I mean its a pretty good ending and
everything I just feel that the movie
completely switches gears when it gets
up to that point like you were ratcheting
up the horror for the majority of the
movie and then it just feels like the
tone changes.
Also another thing I didn't understand fully
was the whole backstory for Steven Yeun's
character of Ricky 'Jupe' Park in relationship
to the stuff with the ape when he was a kid.
I mean that whole thing was absolutely terrifying
all on its own but I'm not sure
what it has to do with the over all story?
I was thinking it had something to do with
the dangers of working with animals and
how unpredictable they can be?
but I don't know?
I know people will probably say
this movie is about the Hollywood system
and the act of chasing fame and all that
but I do feel it is alot about family
and this family's legacy in the
the movie industry almost
to me it seemed that the brother and sister
were kind of estranged they did work together
somewhat but weren't close and I feel that
this event brought them back together.
The acting for this was excellent
especially from the movies stars
Keke Palmer (Emerald Haywood) and
Daniel Kaluuya (OJ Haywood)
as well as the tech guy they befriend
Brandon Perea (Angel Torres)
and everyone else in the cast
but like I said the movie is great
and it will leave you with some
questions when you leave the
theater but if you are interested
in seeing it I would say go see it.
