Body Project: Nora Fok - Sculptural Jewellery Designer
Nora Fok is a sculptural designer jewellery, who involves herself in many a process to create unique, quirky body adornment. Her work incorporates knitted, knotted, woven, tied and looped into necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets; all of which portray fragility, despite sturdiness and wear ability.
She inspires me because her work is so individual compared to other designers from the same field. I aesthetically enjoy the structure of her pieces and like that they are three-dimensional but still have wearable qualities. I have added a 3D element to my work, in that I have areas of yarn and textiles that I’ve purposely pulled out. Although, my collection is completely different, I enjoy finding inspiration from people like Nora as it helps me understand that weird and wonderful is popular.
I intend for my collection to be extremely unique, I feel both the colour palette and final display in context of my pieces will show how I’ve thought about sustainability and how woven materials are actually strong competitors for sturdy and wearable jewellery.
