Yato edition
I was recently tagged by @idk-if-im-sane (thanks for your invitation :)) to participate in the me irl vs me online challenge. Thanks to this I realized that a good part of Noragami's fandom it's made up of women, which is very interesting considering that Noragami is within the shonen demographic.
I'm an average guy who enjoys shonen and seinen, but I can understand why girls like Noragami so much (besides its attractive protagonist I guess lol).
There are many inversions of the role of women in Noragami, I say it as someone very recurrent in shonen manga/anime, in most of them the girls are a kind of visual enjoyment, u know, they are beautiful, almost always voluptuous, many times for whatever get naked in front of the male protagonists. In a nutshell, women in conventional shonen are often the 'realization of the fantasies' of the protagonists and of course, of its usual audience.
Noragami is different. Here women aren't simply accessories of visual enjoyment (although they have their moments). I think Noragami has written such credible female characters that you don't appreciate them just because they are beautiful, you also appreciate them because they have a very strong personality, gray scales and depth, you know that these ladies are not damsels in distress.
The powerful Bishamonten is a war goddess dude, the most powerful of all, shows her body, yes, but she does it because she owns it, not because she cares about the male gaze.
Hiyori is basically the emotional fortress and one of the most important bases for Yato's personal growth, she has saved our two male leads so many times and in so many ways that I constantly feel like they're indebted to her.
Daikoku and Kofuku are another subversion of the roles, you see this adorable girl, but you also see this threatening looking giant being a householder with his apron, the challenge of the roles is so nice to see that it feels organic, natural.
I think I'm one of the few men in the fandom and it doesn't matter, it just goes to show that demographics are often wrong, girls enjoy the roughest shonen and seinen, I've enjoyed some wonderful joseis and yep, of some shoujos too. It's time to stop limiting our tastes to a shallow demography.

Is this an omen?
I was rereading Noragami and noticed something that perhaps was already pointed out before (but I hadn't noticed). Chapter 13 is called, precisely, Omen, it begins with Yato looking at one of the Father's masks, worried about Hiyori and his connection with far shore.
Remembering Tenzin's constant warnings regarding the consequences of Hiyori continuing to interact with the far shore.
At the end of that chapter, Mizuchi (by then Nora) tells him ...
At this point, Mizuchi directly alludes to death and the emotions it unleashes in human beings, highlighting how difficult death is for people, the many emotions it provokes. Then the chapter ends with ...
In Japan, number 13 (which this chapter has) is considered unlucky, although in part because of Western influence, since for them, numbers like 4 and 9 have worse implications.
Another detail, if we consider (and believe) in the Tsukuyomi theory, the first thing we'll notice is the immense moon that shines behind Yato, this is one of the first times (i think the first) that we see the constant dichotomy between Yato and the Moon in manga. One of Tsukuyomi's functions is to guide the fate of humans, which if true would imply that his likely nature as the moon god could seal Hiyori's fate, the fate of severed ties.
The truth is that I prefer to be wrong since I want to see these two as a couple, but we could consider all the options at this point.
I wonder if this is what will happen soon with Hiyori, I mean, she must be saved, but at what cost?
