I know you love scotnor, but what do you think about nor x ireland?
It's a fun pairing and I would love to see someone go more in-depth about their relationship as there is a lot of history here to pick from too, especially with the Norwegian vikings establishing Dublin. Not such an unlikely pair after all. I am in general very open to all Norway pairings, but this is one I would def like to see more of.
Your teens can be tough when your first love also happens to be the person that burned down your abbey
@apersonwholikeslotus talking about NorIre got me in the mood to draw some
Right Here
Pairing: IreNor
Warnings: None
Notes: *doesn't wait for an answer and instead just throws a Drabble at y'all* also this is supposed to be set like a long time ago, like viking-age-ish

Molly woke to something brushing her face, her first thought was an animal had gotten in the house again. As she blinked the sleep from her eyes though, she saw Sigurd. He had reached out from where he lay not a foot away and was lightly tracing her face; Molly tried not to laugh.
"What are you doing?" she asked softly, partially as her voice was still hoarse from disuse.
"You have freckles like constellations" he said it as if it were one of the most normal things in the world to say. He didn't stop, and Molly decided she didn't want to stop him. Sigurd's hands were cold, they always were. Even on the tips of his fingers she could feel calluses he always told her were from rowing. Molly wasn't exactly soft, but Sigurd always seemed particularly rough around the edges to her.
"How long until you go back?" The question was no more than a whisper. She asked every morning, assuming eventually to get an exact answer. Yet every morning it remained;
"Not for a while." Sigurd pulled his hand back, tucking it under his head.
As she woke up more, she could hear the birds outside. It was chilly inside, they hadn't bothered with keeping the fire lit the night before as it was summer. But the mornings were still misty and cold, before it would warm up.
"You stole all the blankets." she teased Sigurd, noting he did have most of them on his side of the bed. Absolutely infamous for leaving her with none, unless she slept right next to him.
He burrowed himself deeper in the pile, "It's not stealing if they already belong to me"
"They belong to us," Molly noticed how light the room had gotten; she sighed knowing that meant getting out of bed soon. Sigurd wouldn't stay forever. He might stay for quite awhile but eventually he would go back to Norway; and that made her wary of how quickly the days together seemed to pass.
Sometimes she thought he could read her mind, as before the thought was even finished he cupped her cheek; "I'm still right here"
Molly settled into his touch before deciding she was happy for the moment that he was right there.
🌌 smile as bright as the aurora above us 🌌
I love NorIre in the sense of it being a first love that was doomed to fail, but taught both parties a lot of lessons about how to function in a relationship. How to compromise, how to communicate, what it means to actually respect each other, the works. A relationship where there was a lot of love, but not enough maturity, not enough equality, and ultimately not enough compatibility for it to work. Yet in the end, neither of them really regret it.
IreNor for the ship ask?
I like IreNor in the sense of them having had a past together that really shaped what the other expected of a relationship, for better and for worse. In my brain they’re 100% each other’s first love
You said Norway and Ireland are historical friends, so have they been friends since like the 9th century viking times or have they just know each other that long and the friendship is more recent? (I hope that makes sense I'm not great at English, your art and headcannons are very good 👍 )
Thank you 🥰✨
I think Ireland and Norway has been friends since the Viking age. Ireland’s capital, Dublin, was founded by Norwegian Vikings and was originally established as a sort of trading post with great access to the sea between Ireland and Britain. Their relationship worked well because the Norsemen kept to the city of Dublin and the Irish farmers traded happily with them. An own style even developed as a result of the different cultures interacting; Hiberno-Norse. So, I think the two of them would have a fun friendship, mostly based on that early interaction as both of them was stuck ruled by another country for several hundred years after that. Though, I see both Ireland and Norway as people who remember and treasure those friendly interactions (especially from back when they were more independent) – they don’t forget. It’s like having an old friend that you don’t really hang out with a lot, but still smile and say hello when you meet, and it don’t affect the friendship.
I also really like Irish mythology and can see certain similarities with Norwegian mythology – especially regarding the “underworld”.
