Hiya! Name's Lyre! 22 year old Irish/Italian and the owner of this blog. My other blogs are @lyresbird for reblogs and @crooked-sketches for Fandom art. Lyrebird is my main so all follows will come from there.

This blog will be multiship and Headcanon heavy. My art blog has a list of general rules abt me in the pinned post so please check those out bec the same rules apply here.

Other than on this post, all OOC talk will be in Purple.

Artists and their muses | Island Nation beach party! | Celebrating the useless Italy comic! All the pieces I drew for the Draw a Circle, That’s Hetalia! zine that I hosted to Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Hetalia!!! The last piece is also the cover of the Zine, and is a redraw of the first ever hetalia cover!! Please check it out and go support all the amazing artists and writers that contributed!!!

I’M SO EXCITED TO FINALLY SHARE!!! This zine has been my biggest project yet, and I’m so proud of how it turned out and everyone who contributed, and also my absolutely amazing mod team. I could not have done this without any of them. Thank you everyone who supported this project. It really means the world to me!

Some little notes about each of my pieces: The first is for the shipping section of the zine. The ships are Egypt/Veneziano and Greece/Romano. I know this are super niche ships, but as somehow obsessed with Historical Hetalia, Mediterranean History specifically, the relationships between these four has always absolutely captivated me, since i first got into hetalia 10 years ago. I've also always believed that both Italy’s are artists, while Feliciano is a painter, Lovino is a sculptor. With of course, their loves as their muses. The piece also takes place in the late 16th century if anyone was curious abt the fashion. The second piece is for the OC section of the zine! It was originally supposed to just be Ireland and my Isle of man, but evolved into this huge multi character scene including some of my face canon ireland nations that i couldn’t just leave out lol. From bitter pasts to better futures.

So! This little baby (in addition to all of my zine work really picking up go follow @lyrebird-zines for more info on that) is the reason why this blog has been so quiet recently! It all started from an ask exchange between me and the most wonderful amazing mun of @askanordic , @mwuuh about Norwegian and Danish vikings in Ireland, and from there we started talking and became friends (yay!) and soon we started talking about NorIre as a ship spawned the idea of doing this collab together!!!!

I’ve always headcanonned that Nations can only receive permanent scars from events that were extremely significant to their history or personhood in a way, and that in addition to this, that they can hide their scars at will as like a form of shape shifting if that makes sense. I’ve always loved the idea of nations having subtle otherworldly abilities like that. Most of the time they keep them hidden, but sometimes in the comfort of their home they prefer to not hide them. Which can lead to triggering of memories for both parties involved. Vanja’s part of the comic is set in the late 9th century during the viking raids of Irish monasteries. That tall tower is called a Round Tower, a building often found in monasteries, the key feature about them is that the door is several meters off the ground and could only be accessed by rope or ladders. There are several documents of these towers being used as shelters by Irish monks against the viking raids (although as in the comic, they sometimes didn’t work.) As for my part of the comic set in the modern day, I wanted to get the idea across that this issue of talking about the past is a long standing discussion between the two of them, especially because Ireland would often prefer biting his own tongue off than speaking up about something that’s been hurting or bothering him, while Norway pretends to not be affected by the past in order to not make Ireland feel like he has to hide his scars or can’t talk to him about bad memories and thus the unstoppable force met the immovable object. They’re getting there, slowly.

Meet the Isle of Man!

I’m so excited to finally share my Hetalia oc with you all!! She’s existed for a while now, but I’ve finally managed to make a proper introduction for her! I’ve always been obsessed with these chibi chibi character sheets Hima posted to his blog, and I think I did a oretty good job at recreating the style! Her human name is Ellen Corlett Kirkland, and she’s related to the rest of the uk bro’s and Ireland. In the family line, she’s the third oldest after Scotland and Wales. Her cat's name is Carrey, which means friend in Manx! If you have any questions about her, feel free to ask! I’d love to answer. I share her with my irl best friend, @quicksilvergardentower who drew her first design shown below!

Donate to the Muslim Sisters of Eire

I wanted to make a post to draw some attention to an organisation from Ireland doing a lot of work to help the Dublin homeless community. They’re a non-profit who from 2010 have been organising around helping the less fortunate and promoting inclusion and education about the realities of Muslims in Ireland.

Yesterday, a group of racists tried to disrupt their soup drive. Thankfully, the community they were serving repaid their kindness by protecting the volunteers and driving the men away, but incidents like these are in the rise in Ireland just the same as anywhere else in Europe, and it’s up to us to push back as much as we can. It’s easy for Irish people to take the stance of ignorance and assuming that we’re better than the rest of Europe, but as someone who was also raised as an immigrant in Ireland, we have just as much duty as anyone else to work to put an end to westerner hegemony and the white supremacist system that keeps it running.
