Miriam Schapiro, Normal Heights, 1969.
Alice in Wonderland street art in Normal Heights.
Little Miss Brewing’s Tropic Thunder IPA on tap at their Normal Heights location. A 3 of 4. A solid tropical IPA with a lighter, easy-drinking body and an aggressive, firmly bitter body. Doesn’t particularly stand out to me, but quite nice.
EL ZARAPE RESTAURANT
08FEB17 Normal Heights 9.99 USD 6.5"
Tortilla
Very heavy, stout, and bulbous. Served on a plate with extra rice because beans r gross.
Meat
Heavily seared, not as juicy as at the other Zarape location. Certainly less steak than guac in the whole roll.
Ingredients
Fries, cheese, guac, and sourcream. Mostly guac, like a large cocoon filled with melted avocado that will one day become a green butterfly. The fries were a dissapointment only because the ones at the other location on Park are always so crispy and light and these were less so on both accounts.
Salsa
There was some pico and green buttery sauce with the chips, neither great nor hot.
Other
In the hearts of Adams street, it’s the sitdown ousin the the Zarape in University Heights. This is much larger, has full table service and many more knickknacks on the walls. The many tiles work mosaics were also nice, as we’re the designated tortilleria in the open floor.
Pairs with:
Fountain Coke, no ice.
Overall Score
6.5. I sure they have great margheritas and machaca breakfasts, but the burritos were worth the trek.

Little Miss Brewing’s D-Day Imperial IPA on tap at their Normal Heights location. A 3 of 4. A great, bigger IPA with lots of tropical and bright fruit in the nose. The body is quite bitter and a bit boozy in places, but it has some nice light grain sweetness to balance in the middle. Nice and aggressive.
