A good friend and inspiration of Rene Chargois, Tall Robot CEO, has passed this week. Norman Mayers was a pivotal force in covering upcoming progressive soul and house artists in Southern California and beyond. He has help promote shows that featuring artists like Sango, Jesse Boykins III, Jarell Perry, Nikko Gray, Mara Hruby, and many many more. His web magazine Nu-Soul Magazine has created a great source of music discovery for listeners digging into the evolving sound of R&B and Soul in this very dynamic climate.
You left us way too young, but your warm and joyous personality will always be with us. What you lived for will always be cherished and a source of inspiration for us at Tall Robot.

Norman Mayers was a true tastemaker and if you think about it, his work the last few years anticipated the important revival of “new soul” or modern R&B (however you want to label it) that is now happening. His end of the 2015 year list is a testimony to that. Thank you for your vision Norman, and for the ground work you did in LA. You were always very accepting and kind, we were just starting out as LA Stereo and you trusted us when we interviewed Aloe Blacc. One Love Norman, Rest In Power, Thank you again for everything.
(January 15, 2016) Writer, model, gym rat, event promoter, and self-professed “raver for life,” Norman Mayers has transitioned at the tender age of 37 as a result of pneumonia on Wednesday, January 13, 2016.
RIP Norman, thank you for everything! Prayers to your friends & family. L.A will miss you bad!!!
