So I did get teary eyed but that’s largely because when people are emotional and crying on screen, I tend to cry unless I really really don’t care. And I did care. But no full on sobbing, have to run to the bathroom at the office so I can wipe my tears away like I did with Robert. Haha.
I’m happy he and we are free.
I do think it was clearly a very rushed exit, especially from a police investigation standpoint. I don’t know if I believe they would have charged Liv that fast and had her bail hearing that fast if it weren’t for the exit time table so that felt like a lot. Saying that, I’m not sure what else there was left to do with Aaron other than repeat these scenes a few more times. I mean it might have been nice to take him on a little more of a trip down memory lane with regards to his whole run rather than a bunch of rushed mentions and being forced to watch that Ben video several times. But as far as actual story goes, I’m not sure what else there was to do if they were going to leave it like that.
Now as much as I thoroughly enjoyed Ben’s death episode (Queen Maxine!), I do still kind of feel like it was all a bit much and Aaron could have just had a quieter exit without quite as much of the drama. Like they could have just had Liv still sabotage the job but save the break up till after that and they could have just stayed broken up but Liv was still drinking and Aaron still couldn’t deal and he had kind of liked the idea of getting away and starting fresh even if it wasn’t going to be with Ben now. At least that way, his revelations that he and Liv need a break could have resulted in him taking her to rehab and ended on a better note rather than him just ditching her in prison. Plus, the idea of him not even being there when the truth does come out is a bit weird.
I also feel like Ben’s death may not have been the best for Meena’s story either because if she does kill again at Christmas then that’s four deaths and it might feel like one too many and people are clearly complaining about the repetition.
All that said, I did enjoy Ben’s death by paddle. And I’m thrilled they didn’t have him leave with Ben.
And as I said, I’m not thrilled they destroyed Liv and Aaron that thoroughly with him not even knowing if she killed Ben or not, but I did thoroughly enjoy hearing him say all of the things to her that we’ve been saying for years. That was immensely satisfying.
I also enjoyed the dig at Chas when he told Liv she didn’t get it either. Haha. I was kind of hoping he would slip away without seeing her but it wasn’t so bad of a scene and if I thought of it as Danny and Lucy saying goodbye it worked better for me. And I’m glad he got the goodbye with Cain too. It is kind of terrible that he didn’t get a Paddy goodbye. I mean, I’m fine with it because Paddy is the worst these days and they’ve moved so far past the relationship that they used to have but that’s the terrible part. They really did ruin that and Paddy as a character so much. Ah well. Still hoping for that Chaddy break up. Haha.
I’m also obviously thrilled by the Robert mention. I’m glad they got it in there and it felt right. It didn’t feel forced in there and it was the truth. From a show standpoint and an Aaron standpoint. Nothing has been the same since Robert went to prison. So it was nice to have that in there.
I do think it would have been nice to get an Adam glimpse in there. Or at least a text from him or something before today because that was really random. I wonder if the “temporary exit turned real exit” theory holds up, that they added in the Adam thing belatedly just to give him a little bit of positive to go to. If that’s the case, I still think they could have added in a text or something but I’m glad in general that he’s not just going to Scotland to suffer Debbie’s existence. It also means they can’t necessarily visit him off screen either.
And it is nice to think that Aaron is off with his best friend again and you know, Adam might be more than willing to help break Robert out of prison. After all, he’s already on the run. Haha.
All in all, it could have been worse and again, we are free from canon now so Robron can be together and no one can tell us any different.
