north is very controlling. he needs to feel like he’s needed all the time. in the first mission we see of them south operated very well without motion trackers but the second north was no longer of use to her he started nagging and trying to make her rely on him again. south’s role is stealth. reasonably she should have been able to notice a guy walking directly up to her. but north was talking and drowning out her sound. because he couldn’t stand the idea of her being self sufficient without him. he doesn’t think of him and south as a partnership, he thinks of it as him taking care of her. he doesn’t think of his relationship with anyone as a partnership.
north cares about people. he cares about them a lot. but he thinks that everyone needs to be cared about. or um to be cared for. everyone is a child that needs him to be the adult. everyone doesn’t know any better and he’s knows best.
delta said that south put north in a position to be killed and i think that’s true but i think north would have and maybe did let her. he needs to be needed by people. he needs to be used by people. north will make himself suffer to feel like he’s useful. he will die to save someone’s life because isn’t that the ultimate way to make someone need you? your life literally being given to someone else?
someone else on here said once that what north wanted more than anything was to have a injured bird that never healed. that always needed him. and that’s what theta was in a way. theta was a broken baby bird that could not heal. at least, not with what north was doing. north didn’t want theta to be hurting. but on a subconscious level he didn’t them to heal, either. north didn’t help theta overcome their fear of nighttime, he just made himself suffer to make them feel better. when theta does good on their own, north has to insert himself into that, even if theta doesn’t want him to.
we talked before about how north treated theta both as a child and as a soldier. if he wanted theta to be an ai, a weapon, a soldier, he shouldn’t have been treating theta as a child. if he wanted theta to be a child, he shouldn’t have been treating them as a weapon. so north was perfect for theta. because anyone else would’ve gotten a child in their head and either tried to make them a more functional ai or said “what the fuck this is not okay” and fought back sooner.
from an outside perspective he seems nice. he is nice. but he will never see you as an equal.
