Saanvi greatly admired the event--Laewyth was lit up with light, laughter, and games aplenty. What a lovely, welcoming idea. She would have done the same, she would hope, if it had been the southerners in Svalr.
She was particularly interested in their small productions--acts of drama, humor and intrigue. It made her heart ache. How similar this was to Diwali in her mother country. Watching with bright eyes, she leaned to the person at her side, “In India, we had men that breathed fire.”
the crowds were impressive. if bjor had thought the town center of laewyth was busy before the festival, now it was downright teeming with hot, sweaty, drunk bodies. it reminded bjor of home, actually; if, of course, the people walking didn’t look to him with such contempt.
the jarl sat at the fire pit ( one of many that had been set up throughout the kingdom, serving as local meeting spots for festival goers to eat and drink outdoors ), watching the happenings around him intently, eager to learn more of the people who were celebrating. “ what could they be celebrating, without a reason or sacrifice to make it real ?” he was speaking mostly to himself, but anyone could have heard.
it’s a bit overdue, but here it is folks — THE FIRST NORTHMENHQ EVENT !! this is a DASH EVENT, and will take place from october 17-23. since all event-related things will happen on the dash, please withhold all non-event threads until the event is over !! details under the cut, and please like this post once you’ve read it.
with tensions running high in the month since everyone has been in laewyth, and the anticipation of the western attack looming, the people of laewyth have decided to throw a kingdom-wide FESTIVAL. these festivals ( which are pretty much just huge, long-lasting balls that are mainly outdoors ) are common in the south, and take place in the main city where the royal palace is located. everyone is welcome to take part in activities such as outdoor theatre plays, sporting events such as jousting, sword fights, and horse racing, dancing in the decorated streets, picnics, and a ton of other fun stuff !! think of it as a festival like coachella, mardi gras, woodstock, etc, but medieval in nature.
with the northern visitors unused to the ways of the south, these activities will likely be bizarre to them. while some culture similarities exist, the north are used to much more religious centered festivals, such as those that honor their gods, and they almost always include sacrifices ( and probably a few hardcore mushrooms ) and things of that nature.
this is a perfect time to have you character(s) interact with people from all background that they haven’t talked to yet, and a wonderful time to explore the differences between the north and south ( and west ) !! this is a pretty generic event, with interactions usually happening during any festival activity of you choosing, but it leads into our first plot drop very nicely. have fun !!
