The Scott R winter boot by Joseph Cheaney & Sons is completely fur lined from top of the shearling shaft to the tip of the pebble grain calfskin toes, including the insoles. Finely crafted in Northampton, England they are rugged as well as stylish. An excellent choice for cold winter days. #josephcheaney #cheaney #boots #scottr #leffot #shearling #furlined #northhampton #britishboots (at Leffot) https://www.instagram.com/p/CZIqSzoM9Dt/?utm_medium=tumblr
I always remember the point my English teacher made when someone said that Jane Austen just wrote flimsy love stories. “Look at how much money is mentioned.” After that, you see the books through a rather harsh filter.
Because money is always a factor.
“Oh, so *insert male character* inherited X amount from their *insert wealthy elderly relative* and also makes X amount a year and is in line to own this or that house.”
Or: “Oh so *insert female character* has this much as dowry and has *insert wealthy relative* helping her.”
Literally, someone walks into the room and everyone knows, right down to the pound, how much they are worth.
It’s downright creepy. (How do they get this information? Gossiping and/or easily bribed accountants?)
Shit, it’s all but made clear Frank Churchill was waiting for his crazy old hypochondriac aunt to die so he could marry his lover.
He is certainly not sad to see old Auntie go. Wouldn't shock me if he “rearranged her pillows” while she was only moderately sick, if you know what I mean.
Oh, and then when Charlotte announces her engagement to Mr Collins one of the first things her parents start to talk about is how long Mr Bennet likely has to live. (Mr Collins is inheriting Mr Bennet’s house.)
(paraphrasing) “Eh, well, he’s old...but, sigh, not THAT old....maybe 10 years?”
Jane Austen’s books are far more cynical and nasty than they ever get credit for.

Sweat Enzo is a Northhampton, Massachusetts band. They’ve been around for a while and “Painting Salmon in Salmon Colored Rooms” has been in the works for over 4 1/2 years.
I love the number of influences that can be found throughout this release. Teenage Fanclub, Husker Du, Dinosaur Jr., early Matthew Sweet and Guided By Voices can all be heard sometimes on the same song. The songwriting tends toward pop - current musicians like Mo Troper immediately come to mind.
This is released on both CD and Cassette for the LOW price of $2 from Requested Records.
