Sweat Enzo is a Northhampton, Massachusetts band.  They’ve been around for a while and “Painting Salmon in Salmon Colored Rooms” has been in the works for over 4 1/2 years. 

I love the number of influences that can be found throughout this release.  Teenage Fanclub, Husker Du, Dinosaur Jr., early Matthew Sweet and Guided By Voices can all be heard sometimes on the same song.  The songwriting tends toward pop - current musicians like Mo Troper immediately come to mind.

This is released on both CD and Cassette for the LOW price of $2 from Requested Records.

Our first Requested Records post was in January 2021. It covered the excellent Sweat Enzo “Painting Salmon in Salmon Colored Rooms” CD. I still listen to that CD and The Musical Chairs LP a lot.

Jumpy & Gods Wisdom "Snowman 3" is a limited cassette that was released last month. It really doesn't sound like anything else on the label. There is a indie/dance feel to this that recalls Still Flyin' or sometimes The Stone Roses, The Beach Boys or Beulah. But really, I'm not sure how to describe this music just like I have no real idea who Jumpy or Gods Wisdom are.

Requested Records is based in Western Massachusetts - Turners Falls specifically. I'm assuming that many of the musicians who make up other bands on the label's roster might be part of Jumpy and Gods Wisdom.

Requested Records (Turner Falls, MA) is a small label making great music. Their new release, The Musical Chairs, follows releases from Gabriel Bernini and Sweat Enzo. I can't really tell who the mastermind behind The Musical Chairs is...but I'm going to assume that it's the same people behind the aforementioned bands.

As with Sweat Enzo, there is a definite Teenage Fanclub sound here. But I would go even further - there is a clear Gerard Love (also of Lightships) influence - just listen to "Think About It Some Other Way". This song also makes me think of R.E.M.

But then you get to "Down on Onion Street" and this sounds like it could have been part of the amazing Jonny LP (a collaboration between Norman Blake and Euros Childs).

11/24/21.

Gabriel Bernini's "You Got Me" released recently on Requested Records (Massachusetts). I received notification because I had bought Sweat Enzo from the label. While I can't be sure Bernini is a part of Sweat Enzo, I wouldn't be surprised. This is a small label and when I bought Sweat Enzo, I was told that the band was basically also Owen Manure. Sweat Enzo also has an album called Goodbye Gabe (in reference to Bernini).

"You Got Me" doesn't sound anything like Sweat Enzo. I can hear Tom Petty, The War on Drugs, and in some spots, Mac DeMarco.
