Do I look Caribbean to you?
During a break during my Norwegian class. I was explaining to a few people why I haven’t researched my genetic ancestry. It’s because I have fantasy ethnic groups and I don’t want to get disappointed by my DNA confirming that I’m not Fulani or Mandinka or Wolof or Igbo, for example. A southern African woman in my class asked if I knew at least if my family is Caribbean or North/South American. I confirmed that all four of my grandparents are/were Jamaican and she said,
“I knew it. You look Caribbean.”
I don’t think anyone has ever said that to me before.
