Personal opinions about Rivamika and other stuffs in SNK.
First of all, again, this is not an insult, bully, attack and whatsoever. This is a mere opinion and criticism made by me. If you can't handle the heat, then you need to get out of the kitchen.
Rivamika is my top and the top ship that I've come to love for many years. Rivamika relationships do have some issues. I'm not going to talk about 'incest' and 'pedo' and 'age gap' thingy because that's already have been explained by many people like thousand times and many years ago. I'm already bored talking about those so yeah moving on...
The only issues that I had with Rivamika is the lack of Ackertalk. Levi and Mikasa have been developed since the early of the manga when Levi saved Mikasa from the female titan. That's the scene where many people become Rivamika shipper.
Why Ackertalk is important? Well since the beginning of the uprising arc, Levi and Mikasa did interact a lot and not only that, they also developed a nice pair and dynamic to fight those criminals. Then, in the final arc, they did have small interaction yet memorable like those caring and support for each other. Chapter 138 is the biggest crumb for Rivamika shippers, in which Rivamika worked together as a team, caring for each other and yeah look at Levi's face when Mikasa had that headache. The scene is so emotional.
Levi had been there for Mikasa for a long time so does the other comrades. However, Levi is also the most important person in Mikasa's character development. So it will be nice for them to have a nice chit-chat about themselves or the Ackerman clan.
In Chapter 139, no Rivamika crumb at all. No Ackertalk. I'm pretty disappointed with it actually. Honestly, I want both of them to talk even if it's only a small chit-chat. Yes, both of them are lost souls and perhaps they need some people to help each other. This is why I said Levi and Mikasa are so fitting in a lost piece of the puzzle but the lack of Ackertalks ruins it all. Even the non-shipper and anti-rivamika did want Levi and Mikasa to talk. At least a small talk could affect the whole manga. Rivamika has a lot of potential even if it's in platonic or romantic. They have some interesting build-up BEFORE 139.
Besides Ackertalk, I'm also disappointed with the lack of information about Hizuru and Ackerman's story. There are still some important polit holes in SNK. People will come to say to me like "Why you expect the mangaka to explain it all, stupid?"
Perhaps talking about the Ackermans and Hizuru might be the national treasure? Perhaps it could fix the ending? Hizuru and Ackermans are very interesting topic to be discovered. There are some still missing points about them. It could be interesting if the mangaka writes about them rather than focusing the 'fairytale' ending.
To summarize things up, yes Rivamika has an issue with the lack of Ackertalk. What a waste of potential. However, at least their interactions are memorable.
