this isnt a post about him but saw mods changing maccready's teeth first off Rude. second off its the wasteland who here is gonna have perfect teeth. toothpaste isnt exactly a hot commodity people are mixing whatever they can find to make a half decent paste and scraping tartar off with knife. anyway here are my half assed new vegas companion teeth headcanons:
boone: so Nobody is gonna have perfect teeth Okay? everyones gonna be at least a bit yellowed. boones teeth are not in great shape rn he stopped taking care of himself as much (depression & directionless) so theyre worse for wear than average but he does kill time in the dinkys nest by scraping at his teeth so yknow could be worse. has chipped several teeth and cut his tongue/cheek this way.
he has a couple of old filled cavities (ncr privilege) and a few unfilled ones that hurt but he refuses to get help about. constant state of toothache that makes eating a bit difficult, he avoids biting directly into anything with his front chompers it goes straight to the back. he parcels food in there.
his back teeth are paler at the top where its really obvious he grinds his teeth. gets ulcers occassionally from where he catches his cheek. boones got mouth problems. and building gum issues but dont worryyyy its literally fiiine
arcade: pretty good shape overall by virtue of going from enclave -> followers he knows how to take care of them but the wasteland is the wasteland and his teeth are definitely starting to yellow at the sides. except the fake ones which are slightly grey but not yellow and he gets really self conscious about if you stare at his mouth for too long and he tends to not give toothy smiles for very long if someone looks at them. hes gotten some teeth knocked out by virture of being a smarmy bastard at times and getting clocked (both during the enclave and the followers).
other than that hes not got a lot going on i dont think other than the typical crookedness (assume everyones teeth are crooked to some degree). maybe a filled in cracked tooth near the pack. Oh And his teeth are SUPER sensitive he cant enjoy a nice ice cold because it makes him feel like he took a metal sheet to the funny bone.
cass: front tooth gap!!! yay. probably has the worst teeth of the companions. caravaneers find ways to keep teeth clean on long treks but its still hard upkeep. you dont get to thoroughly clean until you reach your destination (if even then) so cass is used to feeling gross and doesnt really care its a good repellant at worst. stating the obvious the alcohol has started to brown some teeth, a couple are noticeably rotted, yeah. it hurts also but shes drunk enough half the time she doesnt notice.
missing tbe most teeth of any companion also because of bar brawls. shes had a many pritagonist scenes where shes knocked back, spits out a tooth, and keeps going. she keeps all the teeth she loses in fights as well as her opponents teeth shes got a nice little collection going. i could see her having "fake" teeth (her own teeth put back in) and actual fake teeth.
she will start to take better care of them eventually, shes not losing teeth to age or decay or whatever if she has to get dnetures itll be because she lost her set in fights YEEHAW
also pronw to biting her tongue/cheek in her sleep. bad case of stink breath (not just bc of the teeth situation also bc she vomits in her mouth and just washes it away with whiskey)
veronica: probably the best set of smilers in the group. not white but definitely would be considered nice by anyone in the wasteland. The Brotherhood Are Hoarding All The Toothpaste. not missing as many teeth as youd think but she has a mouthguard (smart) so the worst if the damage in her mouth are cracks and chips.
idk if i think the brotherhood would have braces but i do like it as a thought. veronica with braces would be #fun. or used to have braces but her teeth are already getting crooked again and tbh she doesnt really care. i mean she Does to some degree but its def not issue number one or anything.
as punishment for good teeth shes really prone to gum infections and ulcers from where the mouthguard rubs. oh and she has sharp canines too. as a treat for being my favouritest girl ever. grinds her teeth as well its not visible but its real fucking loud shes woken up others on multiple occassions with it.
lily: requires thought into nightkin teeth in general. if nightkin teeth are talked abt in canon anywhere idc im having fun. i like to imagine their teeth are on average thicker and have sharper canines than most, still omnivores but with a heavier carnivore lean. and bc of the strap on their top lip their upper teeth are usually more stained bc of exposure. on average nightkin teeth are quite yellow like mutants but their teeth are hardier and require less upkeepm carnivores and bones helping keep them clean and all. or whatever.
i dont think lily has particularly unique teeth among other nightkin/mutants aside from any she had missing/chipped from before. maybe an old filling that fucked up the growth of her new teeth when she got turned so theres That but i really am at a bit of a loss. i DO however think she also has a tooth gap, in her lower teeth. she has a lovely smile thanks gramma
tends to take her mouth strap off when she doesnt take her meds and forgets why shes wearing it so she has several nasty gashes in her upper lip from accidental bites.
raul: i wanted to explore ghoul teeth a bit also so some quick THOUGHTS. its pretty normal for ghouls to gradually lose all their teeth, jaw problems are very common with radiation its like The stereotypical thing. plenty of ghouls are just missing their whole jaw and/or tongue. its common practise to make dentures out of whatever in order to fill the gaps.
some usr animal/abomination teeth if they want a scarier look, some use fake teeth of varioud materials (i could see dean domino somehow fashioning a fancy fake gold set), and some have sets with teeth of loved ones. and of course plenty just steal teeth off of bodies to fill out a row.
raul has a mostly scavenged set of teeth. hed never take teeth from a scumbag he killed but if he comes across a decent body hell take a few where needed. he doesnt have any of his sister's teeth and he couldnt really bear to take any of that other lady's teeth (her name does not come to me rn ">-<) bc even though she was dead he didnt want to desecrate her further. kinda wishes he had these days but thats that.
has a collection of backup teeth. will offer them to you if you lose one ghoul or not. just like has them in his pocket. he and cass treat them like trading cards i think.
the teeth raul has are in very good condition! naturally stained and yellow but exceptionally good upkeep, he doesnt have to change them out very often and when he does, its usually because one got knocked loose and he needs a replacement.
the rest of his mouth are about as youd imagine for a ghoul. a good chunk of his tongue is bitten off from an early days injury which makes talking hard at times but otherwise? pretty average. no major damage. jaw pain but what doesnt hurt?
Awesome new post by MEEE Toonny um. might start using mspaint for the beasts because i can not force myself to use my brain when designing because then i go nowhere!!!!! so Yeah Im gonna use mspain and not try to focus so hard on the designs I hope u understand 👍
