about rejection

when we talk about rejection, most of the time we see it from the POV of the one that got rejected.

it might actually be equally bad for the other side.

when you're rejecting someone, suddenly all of your feelings don't feel valid. "you're not the one being rejected," people said.

suddenly, you're a bad person for not feeling the same. suddenly, you don't have the right to feel bad, cause you're the one causing a massive heartbreak to someone dear to you.

all of the sudden, your genuine care & gesture just turned into "they don't actually care for you" or "they are giving you mixed signals on purpose" or "i should've known, why would anyone even love me?"

in reality, it is equally sad.

the way you just felt like they want nothing to do with you anymore when you don't reciprocate feelings. the way you just lost someone that you actually care deeply, just not in that way. the way that you're suddenly walking on eggshells every time you meet them cause you're now afraid of overstepping boundaries. the way it got you thinking, "damn karma would get me sooner or later for this".

rejecting is also heartbreaking.

Sorry, I sent the promo ask and you’re right, I know anything that gets your name out is promo! I meant Harry hasn’t done any traditional things that fans recognize as promo in months. No interviews, appearances, social media, nada. I think the last thing he did like that was radio interviews in March at the beginning of quarantine. I really feel like Zayn could handle a schedule like that, with a concentrated time of doing public-facing things then a long stretch of quieter time. But of course I have no idea what Zayn feels about things like that, I’m just fantasizing ☺️

Thanks for returning with this clarification! I would say the new video shoot is Harry’s only recognizable promo for months, yeah, and how much confidence does that show in FL that they’re doing another expensive shoot for a last (I presume) single. That means that FL has yielded four mvs, right, and at least two high charting singles, with the WS #1. It really couldn’t have performed better and deserves its AOTY contender status. I imagine Harry’s team is well satisfied.

I would love for Zayn to do even a portion of that direct promo and to allow a mv shoot or two to be filmed/papped. I don’t see how he gets through the roll out of z3 without it nor how RCA puts its shoulder to the wheel, so to speak, for the album unless Zayn has agreed to some direct promo. But we’ll see. They’re not expecting FL I’m sure, just something closer to MoM rather than IF. I’m so curious as a fan and as a music industry watcher to see what happens.
