Okay, can we just take a moment to acknowledge Adrien's low self-esteem in Frightningale? After dealing with his I-can't-wear-this-mask-lest-I-be-discovered dilemma and hiding the mask so he couldn't be recognized. He turns to Plagg looking like this after thinking he found the solution. Then he says, "Right. Now I'm gonna try to act as lame as I possibly can."

Which yeah, okay, that's his plan, act super lame so nobody will catch on, because Chat Noir is really cool. Right? But that's not what he does.

Adrien doesn't do anything out of the ordinary. He's just being his regular ordinary self. So what does this mean?

Adrien considers his civilian persona as lame as can be. Which has been hinted at in the past too. Even later as the group is watching the music video together, Adrien says, "Yeah, I prefer this version too. I couldn't have pulled off playing Chat Noir." This line is him reiterating to the group that he, Adrien, is too lame to be Chat Noir.

Just to put a cherry on top of this cake. In response to that Marinette says, "I know, worlds apart."

But after seeing Adrien's shocked face, literal jaw dropper, she rushes over to him to fix it. By saying this, "Oh, what I meant was, that you'd be more lame as Chat Noir than in real life. No! N-not that you're lame in real life right? Just compared to Chat Noir you're just, I mean -- You don't look a thing like him, that's what I mean."

Marinette in her clumsy love-fuelled stumbling, literally accidentally says that Adrien would be more lame. Implementing that Adrien already is lame, as he believes. But she does fix it, I guess, and Adrien looks at her like this.

I think that's a gaze filled with appreciation. Because Adrien gets what she means, and knows that she doesn't think he's lame, but that Chat Noir is(?) So I think he's glad that someone shows preference to him over his superhero persona. Also this post goes nicely with that concept. But yeah, I think this smol angel needs a hug and to start loving himself more, and personally I think his relationship with Marinette/Ladybug will help with it.
