#not running

I did not run after work today. We had to go pick up our run numbers for the City to Surf on the way home. When I got home I had to log back on and do some more work. When I finally got everything sorted there I rewarded myself with some time stitching on my lovely little Singer Featherweight. I have been messing about with scraps and Flying Geese. Not sure what I will do with them but I am really enjoying making them and I have a ton of scraps. After dinner I was falling asleep in the chair so I got my hand stitching out and sat and stitched for a while, then I did a count up and have decided I will do two more rows on the big blue star hexie quilt and that will be it. No more little blue hexies. Of course I will have to stitch that final block and attach it to the mother ship before I can say the quilt top is done.

A wild start to my little off season (big runs done, not ski season yet = time for some time off). Went on a solo road trip to see Parkway Drive on Saturday. I saw them in London in 2019 and missed a few opportunities since so really didn't want to miss out again, even though it meant a slightly stupid weekend plan. Had the best time, aside from when I rolled my ankle in the mosh pit (classic. I get running overuse injuries or mosh pit injuries. No inbetween). Then saw some friends on the way home because they happened to be in the area too! Had the loveliest day wandering around Trier feat. vegan cat café brunch. Opposite vibes to Saturday night but just as nice.

Then a long drive home and realising how swollen my ankle was and getting the keys to my new flat on Monday night and a doctors visit on Tuesday with the verdict that I tore a ligament 🫠 not a bad tear though, just one spot, brace for ten days, nothing too major. Now I'm ill as well so I guess my body really said "hello? You said we would get some rest after all that running?" Fair enough, body, fair enough. We shall get some rest.

Happy “Well, Christmas is on a Wednesday, may as well take the rest of the week off” to all!

Life’s been good, not quiet, but nothing I really feel like blogging about. No running (I’m still finding exercises that don’t aggravate my injury), no new dogs (I posted about Stu already right?). 

I am getting more into mindfulness, I think it’s helping my anxiety (since I can’t run it off). I’m looking forward to reaching my goals next year. 

Tentative goals:

- Run 10 miles (ideally 13.1~!)

- Edit my novel, and if the Wife unit agrees it’s not utter crap, submit it around to see if anyone wants to publish it, but none of that vanity-press crap, I’m too old/don’t care enough to pay to publish. 

- Do better at my job, I got a good review this year (since last November, getting mentally healthy has been my focus, my last job did a number on me), but I’d like to get a perfect one next year.
