Anyway I have a lotttttt of opinions about Luke Skywalker because he is quite literally THEE character of all time to me, but in the post you're referring to (the one where I mentioned blocking anyone with a mildly irritating opinion about Luke Skywalker lmao) I was mostly referring to the general woobification treatment he always gets 😭😭 People love to reduce Luke to the quintessential 'smol bean cinnamon roll, too good for this world, too pure' caricature and yeah a lot of it is just joking around but I just find it soooooo annoying because in the process they're stripping away all the traits that actually make Luke Skywalker Luke Skywalker.

Cause like he is good, he's so painfully good, but he's good because he chooses to be. He's not naive or silly, he's not a little baby who doesn't know any better, he's choosing not to give in to darkness or hatred or fear, to hope even when all hope seems lost, to believe that love can overcome anything and that no one is beyond saving even when fucking Obi-Wan and Yoda are insisting otherwise. So it drives me absolutely cuckoo bananas when people act like he's just an innocent little ray of sunshine full of nothing but light and rainbows cause the whole point is that he so easily could have fallen. He so easily could have followed Anakin's path down to the dark side. Luke is reckless and arrogant and impatient and so insanely powerful it's terrifying and he loves so, so much, and he so easily could have let it consume him except he didn't. And the kind of conviction it takes to make the choices he does, to believe the way he does, takes so much strength.

And that's not even to get into a post-Empire Luke who has been through so much; the trauma, the mental and physical scars he carries, the kind of responsibility that comes with the knowledge of his lineage, with having made the choices he made, with having inherited this identity of 'jedi' and being so alone in that and having to figure out how to move forward. We're veering pretty close to non-canon territory here because obviously there's not much canon material on Luke post-ROTJ (I'm not counting whoever that was in season 3 of The Mandalorian because that was not Luke Skywalker, Dave Filoni I'm in your walls etc.) but I think if we follow the natural progression of Luke's character through the events of the Original Trilogy to afterwards then the woobified, pure-ray-of-sunshine, naive little baby Luke just does not make any sense at all 😭 I mean anyone who came out the other side of all of that would be haunted, especially someone who carries the weight of all that power and responsibility on their shoulders. The fact that he chooses to be kind and hopeful and selfless, to be a beacon of light, to remain so dedicated to love and compassion in spite of all of that is, to me, the core of Luke's character.

There's also something to be said, imo, for how Luke's fanon personality is tied to him being almost universally seen as 1. a twink and 2. a bottom, but I've already yapped about Star Wars for too long so I won't get into that right now LMAO. Also to be clear I don't think all of this is that serious (I said mildly irritating for a reason), but the Star Wars fandom is hugeeeeee and full of so much annoying bullshit and so many bad takes so I tend to be very, very quick to block lol. But people can have whatever opinions about Luke Skywalker they want, I'm not the Luke Skywalker police <3
