i have a hard time clarifying it for people but geralt loves yen, he loves her so massively, in this truly moving and rich and selfless way, he would die for her, he would kill for her, in the end he will even /leave/ her for good if she tells him they cannot be together BUT there is also a huge toxicity and selfishness to geralt and the way that he occupies his own body and mind, the way that he has made himself in order to cope with what he feels and how he perceives his existence, his isolation and total lack of self-worth, he is a drain, a huge drain, it’s draining to be with him, even as much as he gives you and as much as he loves you, even though he would sacrifices everything for you without a thought, he’s an incredibly taxing person to love, and yen is one of the very few people who understands that geralt saying ‘i would die for you’ is really sort of a red herring, a false flag, it’s him just adhering to his own rock-bottom way of viewing himself, because he views his death as the finest currency he has to offer, the only good thing he has to offer you really, death and violence, and as long as he lives and loves the way that he does he ISN’T WRONG
