I’m sucker for like, the realisation that the ‘submissive’ partner actually has all the power.
So I’m all for Steve loving Billy taking control, making decisions for both of them, being all agro and fucking Steve stupid any chance he gets on a daily basis. He loves teasing Steve, loves calling Steve nicknames that are somewhere between affectionate and demeaning, loves making Steve beg him for permission to come.
But like, he can only do it because Steve lets him. Steve allows himself to be manhandled and played with, and at school Steve will stand by Billy’s side and let Billy talk shit and be the centre of attention. He’ll follow where Billy leads, amused and easy-going and willing to get on his knees when Billy pushes him down.
He doesn’t make a big scene of it when Billy pisses him off, he just walks away. Doesn’t give Billy his attention. Talks to Nancy and Jonathan, and smiles at them, and it crushes Billy. Steve drifts away and he doesn’t have to say anything for Billy to quickly make shit right again. After all, what’s the fun of being the king if Steve’s isn’t next to him, watching him rule?
And everyone thinks Billy makes all the decisions and keeps Steve on a short leash, but Billy only has the power to do that because Steve gives it to him, and he can take it back anytime he likes. And they both know it.
