a “not take”, the opposite of a hot take. what you had to say was so basic and/or stale that it not only adds nothing to the conversation it actively regresses it and slows it to a halt. you really, genuinely had nothing of value to say but you felt entitled to have a say anyway, and now everybody is spending the next 5 minutes tearing your not take apart to shreds.
