Where do all these WORDS come from?
The montage-of-authorial-regrets, draft 2, is almost ready for review. It's taken me almost a year to get this chapter off the ground, and the first time I asked @swaps55 to look at it I felt less like someone proudly sharing work I'm excited for a friend to see (usual) and more like a housepet that has dropped a horrific turd on the expensive rug and is showing their person in shame.
ANYWAY.
When it happens, I'm afraid it's going to be really, really long. Which seems only fair when people have been waiting almost a year, but I know is also a pain to keep track of when you can't read it all at once. Sorry. I don't think it has a nice break point.
(I recently learned from @fenmere that most web serial fiction aims for 2000 words per chapter. When I was first writing aStSHB, back before my chapters got long, they were still usually around 3000, I think. This explains why I always just feel like I'm getting into the swing of things when the web serial chapter suddenly stops. And also shows that my readers are the few, the proud, the marathoners who have trained for fiction-as-an-endurance-event. I salute you).
