Your boyfriend enlighter hasn't been in contact in days and you miss him so you drop in to make sure he's ok.

Enlighter x Reader, pre existing relationship, fluff, not proofread

A/N: my man deserved everything he got but i love him. He's so bbygrl coded.

"Can I braid your hair?" you ask.

He doesn't look away from his computer. You think he might not have heard you, given how obsessed he seems to be about this Nice guy. You've been watching him at it since you let yourself into his apartment.

He hadn't acknowledged you when you collapsed on the couch. He'd been muttering to himself for hours. Finally he waves dismissively at you.

"Do whatever you want."

You hum and push yourself off his couch. His hair is soft as you gather it in your hands, he doesn't even glance your way as you comb your fingers through it first. He's always so focused when he's deep into a case, you could probably get away with asking him for the moon and he'd agree.

He mutters to himself, something about Nice being fake, how he was going to prove it soon.

"You should take a break, this can't be good for your eyes," you say as you separate his hair into three parts. You're not trying anything fancy, more of an exercise in seeing how long he'd let you play with his hair. For a moment you think he's going to ignore you, not that he's ever done that before.

"I'm almost done." You want to argue but settle for focusing on the braid. You sigh, but don't press the issue. Once he gets going there's no stopping him. You wonder how long he's been at this, you figure it has to be at least a few days since you haven't heard from him in days.

You finish the braid before your ready to move away. You linger after snapping your last hair tie around the end of your carefully constructed braid. Unwilling to move away from him you run your fingers down the length before finally moving away.

You pick up your bag that you'd thrown to the side when you had entered his apartment. Clearly he isn't interested in you right now, more interested in his imagined rivalry with Nice to even want to talk.

"Where are you going?" his voice stops you in your tracks, he's finally looking away from his computer.

"Home, you're obviously busy," you say, you try not to sound disappointed. It's not his fault, his single minded focus had been present even before he gained his powers.

"Stay, please." He beckons for you to come back and you do. You missed him. When you reach his side he holds out a hand, gingerly you take it. He pulls you down onto his lap and you laugh. It's been too long since you've spent some quality time with your boyfriend.

Obviously there are other factors, but one thing I’ve noticed about people who like, use the word “anti” and shit unironically is that they ascribe a lot more importance to “fandom” as an all-encompassing generic thing than it really deserves.

Someone on Youtube replied to one of my comments saying how much he “hates Aerith’s guts because she’s an annoying stuck up bitch and he can’t wait for her to die”. Woah. I’ve heard people say they think she’s annoying, which I guess some people might think (they’re entitled to their opinion), but wow. If you think the kindest and most positive character in a game is a “stuck up bitch” and you “hate the guts” of a fictional character, then it’s probably not the character that’s the problem...
