What studio would you recommend for an anime adaptation of The Sandman?

That's hard for me to say, and part of that has to do with the comic's inconsistent art styles.

Shaft is really good at surrealist imagery and I'm partial to it because Madoka, but I think their general style might be a little too moe for a Sandman adaptation. I think Madhouse would do great in terms of character design, but probably not much else. Not a studio, but if Satoshi Kon was still alive, he'd be perfect for the job. I think Science SARU might be able to thread the needle if the art direction for Devilman Crybaby is anything to go by.

Unconventional Opinion: Boogie2988 is little more than yet another product of a toxic environment, and he is but one of many characters in tragic cautionary tale.

Would you agree or disagree and why?

I don't think we can definitively say one way or the other, but yeah, that's a possibility I've thought about. In fact, I think, when most people defend guys like Boogie2988 or Pewdiepie or Jontron, they're seeing it from the perspective that their opponents are claiming they're some kind of evil mastermind.

It's unlikely that's true. For one, I don't think a lot of these guys are smart enough to do that. They're good entertainers, but political geniuses? Probably not. By that same vein: how many politicians are funny enough to carry an entertainment business? Not a lot.

A guy like Boogie is not at the top of that ladder of power. Not even near the top. He is, in every sense of the term, a tool.

And I mean that literally. The thing about these guys being public figures, going to conventions, meeting fans, is that they talk to a lot of people. They network a lot. And there are absolutely people out there from these dark, radicalized corners that are effectively recruiting them. Maybe not directly, not to where guys like Boogie feel like they're carrying a membership card and an arm band, but they give them a little nudge in a certain direction. And then another nudge. And another.

To Boogie, it's just a "friend" telling him certain ideas that on their surface seem simple and logical: something like forced censorship, for example. Human beings have an innate ability where we want what we cannot have. The more we're aware of what we cannot have, the more we want it. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

So you tell someone about entertainment censorship and it's very easy to get riled up about that. And the idea is to get a person so whipped into a frenzy that they forget the real actual good that censorship is meant to provide. The focus is always what's being taken away, but never what's being added.

But that's not the point. The point is to get you to rail against censorship, make it a political issue, and cause enough confusion that maybe censorship laws get rewritten in their favor to make it easier for them to spread their message of hatred.

Guys like Boogie and Pewdiepie are people just like you and me. But they're people with a spotlight. People with a platform. So they probably have a lot more little devils on their shoulders feeding them bad information, both directly and indirectly. And how resistant they are to those little devils depends on who they are. Pewdiepie, for example, seems like the kind of guy who likes very edgy humor. I'll always remember the old, old, old Retsupurae video that Slowbeef and Diabetus did on him, where Pewdiepie was blowing up over the original Amnesia let's play. And it was a lot of jokes about pig rape of all things. He seemed to love it.

It probably wasn't very hard to push that guy in a radical-adjacent direction. After all, it's the NORMIES that are coming to STOP YOU FROM HAVING FUN, PEWDS! The outrage writes itself.

These people are poisoned, unconsciously spread that poison to others, and that's by design. Nobody is immune to propaganda, and if you view yourself as even a little punk and counter-culture, it's very easy to have that turned against you.

This doesn't absolve these guys, either. They still have brain worms, and they're so infected with these ideas, it's hard to get through to them. Which, again, is by design. Even if they do not identify as fascist, they are tools to spread their poison, and it will continue to poison others.

Do not give them an inch lest you be poisoned as well. You can only take the hazmat suit off when the poison is completely gone.

If you don’t mind me asking, do you and all the other artists (and so forth) who used to work for Dr. Crafty/Alex Tanesly - and I’m including Cherri Whitewing - have any plans to continue to continue working together in the future?

I still believe that you can all create great works of art and fiction together - despite what you were all forced to endure together.

I’m sorry if this brought up any unhappy memories regarding what happened, I just wanted to know you still work together.

Here's the thing - Crafty handled people who worked for him (and were close to him) in a very isolating way. There was no group chat for the show's production, so there was no way to check in with each other aside from establishing contact through DMs. Without Crafty's help, mind you. I also never got introduced to his circle of friends. I suppose that was another red flag in retrospect.

So I didn't get to really talk to anyone beside Crafty himself, save from Zaz who I directly worked with on the storyline bits for Crafty's show.

Any other proper contact really established itself only recently, so I've become mutuals on Bluesky with a few folks. But we don't really plan on doing anything together at the moment.

Right now, the wounds of everything are still extremely fresh, especially for those who had to deal with way more things than I did. And I think healing is way more important than anything else.

I would like to do some creative collabs with some of them in the future, but it's not a priority. Right now, I think we all focus on our personal passion projects and I love seeing their work from the side linesm especially OC art and animation! :>
