Hey yall. I know this isn’t usually what I post, and I’m sorry for the hiatus before this, but upon coming back to tumblr I have found two things that have made me very sad and very scared.

@this-is-exorsexism and @this-is-intersexism have both vanished. TIE left after a hate campaign and TII was terminated. Someone has claimed those urls to function as archives.

I am… devasted, honestly. Those were some of my first safe spaces on tumblr and because we are so divided they are gone. I’m not pointing blame because I don’t know the details and it won’t do any good so… just take care of each other. Find the people who care about you, both inside the non-binary and intersex communities and out of it.

Hopefully this is me coming back from hiatus, but even if it’s not, I feel like the neopronoun community needs to be aware of this.

One of the posts here inspired me to put my neos in my discord bio and use them for a character I'm writing there that's based on myself, and people in my friend group have started using them for me :DDDDDDD

Neopronouns aren't "too cringe" or "too hard to learn". If the homies are real ones, they'll respect 'em

Neopronouns are as valid as any other pronoun (or should I say offical) and the people who really do care about you will adapt. They might not get it right away and might have to do their own research, but they’ll respect how neopronouns are a part of how you identify.

Don’t be afraid to embrace who you are. It’s worth it.

Hey so I’ve noticed some people who aren’t really sure about all the ways people can identify their gender and label their presentation, so I wanted to talk about it!

Credit to @this-is-exorsexism for the list of terms :)

Boy/Man - a gender or presentation that is explicitly male in some way

Masc - a gender or presentation that has elements associated with being male (aka masculinity)

Girl/Woman - a gender or presentation that is explicitly female in some way

Fem - a gender or presentation that has elements associated with being female (aka femininity)

Androgynous - a gender or presentation that is a mix or in-between masculinity and femininity

Neutral - a gender or presentation that has does not lean in one way or another (and is not strictly in between masc and fem either)

Null - a gender or presentation that specifically has no leanings or associations

Abinary - any gender or presentation that is outside of the male-female binary or does not incorporate aspects of it

Midbinary - any gender or presentation that includes aspects of both male and female or is considered to be in-between the male-female binary

Genderless - a gender or presentation that does not invoke the idea of gender at all

Xenine - a gender or presentation that is defined and does exist, and relates to a xenogender or xenopresentation

Outherine - a gender or presentation that is not necessarily defined, but does exist

Aporine - a gender or presentation that is defined and does exist, but is separate from all other ways to define it except itself

Maverine - a gender or presentation that is defined as the one with the gender. "My gender is myself," etc. Subset of aporine

Ilyagine - a gender or presentation that is defined by itself. Similar to maverine

Kenoine - a gender or presentation related to emptiness or obscurity

Multigender - a gender or presentation that combines multiple of these identities at the same time, either separately or into one new identity

Fluid/Flux - a gender or presentation that combines multiple of these identities, but at different times or with different intensities (could also be only identity at varying intensities)

If you’ve had different experiences with these labels, please tell me! This is based on my experiences and the other experiences I’ve seen, but of course that can’t be everyone

I like luminescence/luminous because of the mouthfeel and what they represent. I like the word caribou for the same reason (if you know my main I’m obsessed lol)

Linguistically, if we want to get into the special interest, I’m endlessly fascinated by words that are just. Missing some of their tenses. For example: stride. What’s the past tense? Strided? Strode? Stridden? What about “to go”? Why is went a past tense? Went comes from “wend”, but all other forms of it have fallen out of use, and now “to go” just takes it.

Or just look up “unpaired words”. There’s a bunch, and I love all of them. “Defective verbs” too. There’s also verbs that just lack some forms! Look at this:

Also, if we have two endings that mean the same thing but are from different languages, they can block each other out! Instead of using lightity or darkity we have lightness and darkness.

We also lack some neutral versions of words:

And I know that this phenomenon happens with adjectives too (there’s a tumblr post about it!) but I forget what it’s called…

Wow, this is so lovely! I look up to early neopronoun blogs a lot, and even if they’re not active as much, they have a wealth of resources and have been invaluable to the community. Thank you to these blogs for doing this work and thank YOU for bringing them to my attention.
