EVENT 4 Loading a 230# stone over 54" I'm indifferent about this event. I'm decent at stones, but I'm also short so 54" is pretty high for me. Atlas stone loading is all about explosive hips and keeping your back and core tight so you can get leaned back enough. The pick from the ground is the hardest part for me. I have small hands. This is the first competition that has allowed tacky. I have never used it in training and never found the need for it. I tried tacky last week and I didn't find it makes a difference. It also made a huge mess and was extremely hard to clean up. So don't try anything new in competition. No tacky for me. Unfortunately the stones were already covered in tacky. So it did make a mess of clothing. By the end of the day I was pretty exhausted and didn't want to push it past my limits. I have messed up my back rushing to load stones before so I settled on a pace to get 4, I was happy with 3. #SlowAndSteady. Event 4 Stone loading 220 pound stone to a 53" target Not exactly my strength. I'm short so loading a large stone to 53" is high for me. It is also a #StoneOfSteel which is made of metal not concrete so the grip is a little harder. It is also 20" in diameter, which is a full 3" bigger than any stone I have. Which my hands are not even close to touching. The weight doesn't concern me, it's the size and height. I have loaded heavier stones. Time to try something new. The rain didn't exactly help. Got more reps than I thought. Second place again. @MeatHead__Dad beat me in every event. A solid performance by all. I did the best I could for the day.
