I love when people ask me this at comic cons. Them: “You look so nice! What are you dressed up as?” Me: “Uh...myself.” #bigapplecon #notacosplayer #alwaysdresslikethis #waistcoat #tie #comicnewsinsider

Sneaky peaky at my next cosplay! ....Rem from Re:Zero! This is my first bought costume in....a while. It fits really well (I still hate invisible zippers)! They are some minor adjustments and changes I would like to make before wearing. Overall, not a bad buy! #remcosplay #rezero #rezerocosplay #cosplay #notacosplayer #rem #maidcosplay
[First con, third cosplay ever] "Oh, look someone tried to be [character]."

There is a lot of abuse that goes on over social media…People that arent in the cosplay community that feel the need to be negative,or hyper critical about a subculture they arent even a part of.
Cosplay is simply just short for COStume play. Cosplayers are boys and girls, fat and skinny, old and young. They can make their own costumes from scratch, put them together piece by piece or buy them at the store. They can take creative liberties with their cosplay character. Some main forms of this are steampunk, hipster and genderbending. They can be gamers or comix book fans or maybe they just enjoy the atmospher and like dressing up. Characters can be sexed up, or simple.
Tellig someone what they do isnt “real” cosplay isblike telling someone they dont have on a “real” halloween costume.
And if you have been doing CP for a while remember: everyone starts somewhere. All CPs have their very first costume.
So lets all be less critical, and simply enjoy the crazy amazing nerdy atmosphere that is Cosplaying.
Finally wrote a new blog post, based on recent topics in the #cosplay community and my experience with it, with a little help from my friends - https://bitly.com/1oiLHRk #redmatter #notacosplayer
