† door to the unexpected [ allen | event ]
The blindingly red exorcist was extremely skeptical about this whole 'returning home' deal the scientists have planned for the city. And the manner the woman had presented it to the residents had not fooled him at all. There were several people that came to mind that would believe what was shown to them, but one specific idiot made the man cringe. Of course he would fall for this stupid ruse, there was no doubt about it. Family was everything to that kid. However, the priest wasn't going to let an opportunity like this pass him by. Cross would return home, only because he had missed the 'luxuries' he had experienced while there. Sure, the women and booze here were actually quite quality, but it hadn't compared to 1800s Europe, with their finer alcohols and service the women gave him. The patrons he had paid while here were, to say the least, a bit more... what was the word? Eager? No, that wasn't quite the word he was looking for, but the man wouldn't let it linger in his thoughts any longer.
He strode the streets of sector oo3, naturally returning from the red light district he so often frequented. Cross had a bit to drink, but it wasn't enough to render his motor skills weakened, nor his thought processes. He lit a recently bought cigarette, having run out of his own supply, finding that it tasted quite different from those back home. After taking a long drag, he looked up to the somewhat foggy night sky and exhaled, realizing that he actually missed being home. If anyone knew the man, it would come as quite a shock, considering he absolutely hated being in one place. He felt trapped in this damned urban metropolis, yet also free at the exact same time. It wasn't all that difficult a concept to understand.
A few steps further, Cross had found what was one of those 'pocket dimensions' the female scientist had mentioned, although a bit choked. Just staring at it reminded him a bit of the Ark he had told Allen to control, but rather than one door leading to several others, it only led to one area. And strangely enough, this one had looked much like his home world. Although, it wasn't headquarters he had seen through it, but instead a faraway vision of the church he had once managed with Mother, and where he practically nursed his pupil after finding his swollen face and white hair. The general made a quick face of distaste, as that was a very, very delicate moment for him. In fact, he hated acting like a baby's mother to that stupid pupil. Ugh.
Considering he knew the town well, he set foot into the portal-like pathway, hoping he would be able to visit some of the fine brothels he had passed by in his past. Cross looked around; everything was nearly the same as he had left it. Maybe a few new gravestones added here and there, but it wasn't a major change. Rather than walking towards the church in front of him, he pivoted, going the opposite direction. It was... actually quite expected of him to not visit those of his past unless it was absolutely necessary.
Familiar faces surrounded him as he entered the village, and those same people greeted him as he walked past them. The man simply gave a nod for each 'Father' and 'Welcome back' he received, not interested in small talk. Just as he stood in front of the brothel he was so tempted to enter before, he noticed an easily recognizable white head of hair, and the height of a boy he knew all too well. But there was something extremely off about him. And almost immediately, the colorless mane had dyed itself a darker hue, and the skin of his visible ear had become dark. Much like a Noah's would. Cross was taken aback, but the only physical sign of it was the widening of his eye. Once he had come to care for the boy, never had he thought Allen would succumb to the Noah. There was too much pride as an exorcist he possessed, as well as the fact he refused the possibility of having to kill someone he loved once he became Nea.
Was this Allen's fabrication of home? Did the teacher stumble across a vision that wasn't his?
Biting on his tobacco, the general walked up to the pupil, ready for a fight.
"Oi, what the hell are you doing? I thought you were an exorcist, but I guess I was completely wrong. How pathetic."
